Week 3: OSU vs CAL

Post by seofan_via_dublin »

OSU comes off what Meyer considers a disappointing win.
The running back depth is seriously depleted.
The O-Line is not playing well in pass protection.
The D line needs more pressure.
The CAL offense is going to look to abuse the safety confusion on deep coverage.

All that said, CAL is a team that OSU should beat by 24.

My Score:
OSU: 38
CAL: 14

Your thoughts?

We really won't know much about the Buckeyes until they travel to East Lansing.

When is Jordan Hall back in the lineup? Any news on Hyde?

Hyde is week to week with a strained MCL.
Hall is doubtful this week.

I look for the Buckeyes to look better this week. They have 2 more games left until the big game with Sparty. I think Urban Meyer needs to open up more passing to Miller. UCF had practically shut down the run game after so long. When we was passing and picking up yards that way, then the offense was clicking as the UCF defense didn't know what to expect. All this said, I'm going

Ohio State-37
California-19

Picking the Buckeyes in this one, but I have to give props to a few neighborhood young men playing at Cal.

#40 Chris McCain-LB
#3 Maurice Harris-WR
#15 Zach Maynard-QB
#21 Keenan Allen-WR- Will score at least one TD

The Northen Guilford Nighthawk pipeline to Cal.

We also have a Sr. RB here that was being recruited by the Buckeyes, but he signed with the Tarheels. Come on Coach Myer & Withers you let a good one get away.

Jordan Hall has been medically cleared to play.
He will start limited practice drills and be evaluated as the week progresses.

Hyde has a sprained knee that is less serious than first thought.
He'll be evaluated after therapy this week. But may see limited action if needed.

They will handle Cal but the biggest threat is that Miller will again carry the load running. Every time he does, he is in harm's way.

Dunn has looked decent. They can use him more if needed as they cannot afford to have Miller being the main rusher. Rod Smith doesnt look like he is ready yet.

YOU ARE 100 PERCENT SPOT ON, HE IS GONNA GET HAMMERED SOONER OR LATER, HE MUST BE A DUAL THREAT QB, BUT NOT THE BULK OF OUR RUNNING GAME.

I know there are injuries at RB but, I wouldn't let Miller run too much in these early games.

If I'm Urban Meyer, Guiton is going to get some touches this week to help with the run game.

Hall is cleared to play, and will.
Dunn is healthy.
And Philly Brown, who was a RB in HS has been used in practice as an emergency option.

Cal has given up an average of 31 PPG the first 2 games, so I look for the Buckeyes to have a good day offensively........I would like to see Braxton Miller run less, and the RB's produce more........glad to see Jordan Hall cleared to play, that will certainly help the ground game.......he also has good hands, so I would give him some touches via the pass.

Well Braxton took one to the house from 55 yards out, after good defensive play. Then CAL gets the ball and takes it down the field like it was nothing. Defense is a little sketchy right now, hope we can pick it up and shut them down the rest of the game.

Roby dropped a for sure pick 6 that would have added nicely to the defensive stats. Bucks rolling right now on offense.
