8th
South Point 54
Portsmouth 30

Great game, much closer than final score. Late score on second team defense line.

7th

Portsmouth 22. I think??? They have great team speed on this team.

South Point 6

7th was 20-6. lol and Ports. does have some speed.

Haltime of the 8th was 32-16 South Point. After the half SP does not tire and the opposing teams seem to wear down! As for the late score on the second team . I didn't agree with that but we really don't have a second unit of 8th to put in! We only have like 13 8th graders.

valley 8th grade 14 coalgrove 8th 28 .....coalgrove ran the ball .....we threw the ball ....they ate the clock and manhandled our line on both sides ....they win

is anybody else for 12 minute quarters in JR high .....8 is not enough and they jump to 15 min in high school ...so go 12 for jr high you still have to stop the run but if you do ...then the other offense has more time also ....just pondering the thought ....

watched this one....Ironton has the biggest line 7th & 8th that I have ever seen at this level. West has a good size line and they looked small compared to these big cornfed looking boys!!

Ironton just pounded them from start to finish!

Big doesn't always mean better! Just ask SP and RH who Ironton lost to. LOL so far the Pointers have been outweighed on the line in every game we have played, but our speed and ability to block "outweigh" the bigger slower lines who tire in the second half!

then what

Wheelersburg 7th grade: 24
Waverly 7th grade: 0

The young pirates controlled the game from the start. Kanyon Bruton scored his 1st TD as a Pirate taking it 35 yds to open up the scoring. The next score came from a blocked punt in the end zone by Brandon Denney and Cole Darnell recovered it for a TD. Keaton Newsome finished out the scoring for the Pirates. Alex Thompson, Lyden Collins and Kaleb Coleman blocked well for the pirates O-line. The defense played as a unit and got the shutout!

Wheelersburg 8th grade: 8
Waverly: 8th grade: 0

This was a great defensive game. The Burg offense got its only score from Charlie Howell on a 40 yd run up the middle. Brady Newsome, Sammy Hall, Brandon Goodling, Eli Whitley and Gabe Whitley dominated the line of scrimmage. The defense was outstanding in getting the shutout. Eli and Gabe Whitley are very physical and dominate there positions. Brandon Goodling, Kyle Davis, Jordon Howard are always around the ball. Great S.O.C. victory pirates.

The thing to remember about the SP/Ironton game was that it was a scrimmage for Ironton. Rock Hill always gives Ironton a good game and executed well in that game. Any team can beat anyone on any given day and when Ironton plays all four quarters, tackles, and limits turning the ball over they are very tough team. SP has a very good team but it's not about who's faster or bigger but it's about who executes better on game day! Looks to be an exciting year of Junior High Football!

and South Point and Rock Hill executed their games plans right well I might add! LOL Scrimmage played as a game on our schedule. And no not any team can win on any given day! Sometimes a team does not have the talent level to be competitivle! lol

Yes it was a scrimmage for Ironton, however it was a real game for SP.They played 4 quarters, 8 minutes each, had referees ,and 10 yard chain crew, and when all was said and done the score was 46-22 SP.... It's not like Ironton played this game like an NFL scrimmage where the 1st team sits out the 2nd half....LOL! You can bet your bottom dollar if Ironton could have won this game they would have..... Ironton came out the 2nd half tired and were completely dominated in every facet of the game....Speed and quickness wore down size and bulk for a pointer win............

You don't need talent to win games! You need a disciplined team that buys into what you expect of them! Each individual player doing what they are suppose to do and if you get that it doesn't matter how talented the other team is. Good luck South Point the rest of your season! Good group of kids!

If you don't need talent to win games why can't these non BCS schools ever beat the alabama's and the ohio st of the college world ? I'll tell you why, they don't have the talent. The reason SP can't beat CIN MOELLER is not that the players don't buy into the system they just don't have the talent.....Army Navy Airforce Appy st are all Military schools that have great discipline and smart players who buy into the system. why can't they win on a consistent basis? They don't have the horses!
