Best Hotel At Schottenstein Center ?

Post by kantuckyII »

Going to a concert up there soon. I know, if I recall correctly, there are a couple hotels within easy walking distance of the center? Which one is best or are they all ok?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Holiday Inn on the Lane closed its doors for good on Monday afternoon, but it didn't happen without a little difficulty.
"We had to find the keys to lock the door because it's never been locked," said Marty Sims, food and beverage director at the hotel. "It's never been locked since we've been here."

The hotel -- which has hosted everything from Saturday tailgate parties to families visiting campus -- will be coverted into a student dormitory, 10TV News reported.

Campus Partners paid $19 million for the hotel. Renovations are expected to cost about $6 million, 10TV News reported.

The new dorm is expected to house 480 students when it reopens this fall.

Which is an accurate reflection of Hineygate in your opinion? View 1 or View 2? I have never been to one, nor to a Ohio State football game either
Unfortunately, this simply wasn’t of interest to them.

(VIEW 1)To a few, Hineygate was merely a beer bash for rowdy fans before and after the game. Nothing could be further from the truth. (View 2) While alcohol was responsibly served with strict identification enforcement, it was a place for friends, OSU alumni, family, and business associates to gather, reunite, and celebrate football Saturdays in the center of the college football universe, Columbus, Ohio.

Both, depended on the fan. While the majority of our time before and after games are spent at our own personal tailgating celebrations, it was always tradition to cruise through Hineygate and get a souvenir cup, especially before Michigan games.
Nothing like Saturday afternoons being a part of Buckeye Nation.

Well, I'm sorry that's gone for you and everyone else. I hate to see traditions that we look forward to all year long disappear. Maybe they'll reconsider in the future

Holiday in was one of the very few within true walking distance.
You could get a room at the Blackwell, it's over on the other side of St. Johns,
from the Schott.
I'd recommend getting one of the hotels north of the schott, up between
Ackerman and North Broadway on Olentagy.
Then driving down. You'll save money over the Blackwell stay.
