Local Speed Traps

Post by MTSWNGRVSG »

Since money is getting tight will some of the local police departments enforce speeding laws more to get money? Just something I saw to makes me wonder.

So true.

I don't even know how it works in Athens, I think if a village marshal writes a ticket--it goes to them. I know when the Sheriff's Office issues a citation, it goes into the general fund. So, it doesn't really help them directly.

Hanging Rock isn't near as bad as it used to be, but it is still very wise to drive 55 through there.

Is Rio Grande headed back to being a speed trap again?

the safest thing to do is just go the marked speed limit......that is unless your headed EAST. lets say your driving on 35 EAST and a cop pulls you over. just tell them you thaught the sign said 35 FAST....so you assumed you were supposed to drive fast......try it, it works lmao

I don't know about OSP, but most officers/deputies I know won't pull over someone unless they are going 15 over. Reason being is that most radar is opposite traffic, not same way. Is it really worth it to tear up the median for going 60 in a 55?

I was escorting our command vehicle to headquarters going 50, people were going by me at 60-65...PASSING a deputy going 60-65. Wow.

With the lack of funds in today's economy I think that every little or big town will become a "speed trap". I went to Newark Saturday and saw several sheriffs deputies that had cars pulled over on US 23. Didn't used to see any of that.
