Rally on the River

Post by BUCK I »

I think its been a great event this year. There are more bikes and more people then I have seen in years prior. For the most part everyone is behaving and I have seen nothing bad for the past few days. We have met some great fellow bikes from as far away as Michigan and Virginia and seen license plates from as far as Wisonsin. Friends of Ironton have outdone themselves this year. With the enlistment of the 92.7 Planet radio station, this has been the best Rally by far in my opinion. All the members of Friends of Ironton and other volunteers have worked so hard for our town, and for that I thank you. My hat is off to Rick Mcknight. I have seen him everytime I have been downtown this weekend working his butt off. He looks a bit grouchy (haha) but im sure its from all his hard work. I havent seen him yet to sit down and smile and enjoy the event , its been 24 hr endless work for him. So instead of griping about bikers and the Friends of Ironton, we all need to thank them for putting together a 1st class event this year!

Great post Buck I. Although the Bikes are not my "bag", I think it is a great event for Ironton and I am sure it helped area vendors in the midst of this bad economic downturn.

One little suggestion - I went up to US Bank ATM [2nd and Park], entered from the back and couldn't get OUT the front!! I tried every way, but every direction was blocked to travel for cars - up and down and cross-streets, too. Finally got someone to move a blocking stanchion for me so I could go north on 2nd St and go back home. Please make the US Bank ATM accessible to cars both in and out!!

Absolutely no problem with the Jones street ATM machine the entire weekend. Up to Elm, turn left, down 5th street to Jones street. Turn right, 3 blocks. Back down 6th to vesuvius, left to 5th street, right to elm, right on 2nd and back home. Next year during the rally, this will work like a charm.

Might want to do the same thing during Gus macker.
