I got my knee wraps today went to the gym to do squats and realized I got the wrong ones. I needed the longer ones. Anyway I went ahead with my work out and for my last two sets I got 405 and 450 both for 5. In a month I should be able to hit 500 Id say.

I have a question, hopefully someone will have an answer. I never had done a pyramid for bench, just a varying workout. So, today I tried a pyramid and didn't really feel anything from it. Should I set my goal higher than a normal max? Or, is it just not expected to yield a big result?

You want to set your goal higher. It should yield a big result. Ive been doing this pyramid that goes 8,6,4,2,1,1,1,2-3,4-6,7-10. Thats a lot of sets, but I have been increasing each week. By the downslide you can really start to feel it. Try setting the goal higher next time. Here is what I do. If I can get the entire thing the next week I increase it by 5 if I cant I stay the same till I can get the entire workout in. If yours was really easy this time try go go up 20lbs.

After seeking the advice of the big guy on here I have dropped my bench down to one day a week to help me come out of my funk.

The reps at 250 are still down between 5-9 reps on the first set of four but, sets 2-4 are more consistent.

Sometimes, like today my 2-4 set will be better than my first.

I will keep plugging away in hopes to get back to where I was and then improve on that.

Being I have not updated this for a while and I had my best day ever with the reps at 250 I thought this is the time to do the update.

250 x 25

ncf, I think I may stop disagreeing with you so much on the forums...you sound like a big guy!

I'm a measly 6'1", 185. :( I def can't bench 250. Although, I really don't bench much.

I do love my 650 leg press.

I could probably run from you, but I definitely wouldn't want you to get a hold of me in a fight!

benching 250 pounds is benching 250 pounds.

i doubt i could bench over my body weight

Try doing weighted dips instead of bench for a couple weeks to get over BP plateaus. I was stuck @ 365 max then i just layed off for 2 weeks and replaced BP with dips. When I benched for max the next time around I was at 385 and then 405 the next time around. I do BFS. so it's a rotation to max week.

Today was my best day ever doing reps with 250 pounds.
As always we did four sets with this weight.
Set 1-28 NEW RECORD FOR REPS AT THIS WEIGHT
Set 2-27
Set 3-24
set 4-20
This also accomplished my goal of doing this weight for at least four sets of 20 or more.

Up next
seated preacher curls
110 x 10 3 sets
cable curls one handed
70 x 10
80 x 10 2 sets
cable curls two handed
100 x 10
110 x 10
120 x 10
standing calf raises was next
495 x 30
I ended with four different exercises for the gut and then set in the sauna for a totlal of 30 minutes.
