Much of the early 18th century history of Western Virginia and the Upper Ohio Valley has a direct connection to southeastern Ohio. Many of the early heros, villains and famous peoples that helped build and shape Ohio and the Northwest Territory left their mark.
During the weekend of Sept 1&2 2007 the 10th Fort Henry Days was held in Wheeling WV. This past years subject was the 225th Anniversary of the Siege of Fort Henry in 1782, sometimes refered to as the final battle of the American Revolution. In the past there was been yearly reenactments of events pertaining to the Burning of Colonel Crawford or 1777, refered to as "The Year of the Bloody 7's"
