Is it nice to hire local? Sure, but does hiring local guarantee the best hires? No. There are no guarantees when hiring, period. It is a coin-toss at best when hiring anyone. Who knows, at the time, he could have been the best of the available, but how would anyone know except those in on the hiring process? getting off soapbox
