Then.....put no tree at all on the lawn. Have no state and national holidays (you know, paid days) for Christmas and merchants who take this stand, let them not have or expect Christmas shoppers...

Christmas has been watered down so much over the past few thousands of years it's not even funny. This harlotry was first started by the Catholic Church, which adopted pagan elements so they could get more people to "convert" to Christianity. Secondly, our government has made it into simply another way to stimulate the economy and has done everything in their power to suck Christ right out of it.

EXACTLY - couldn't governmental [all levels] budgets/expenses be cut significantly by eliminating the expense of buying, illuminating, putting up and taking down ALL kinds of public holiday displays and decorations? What a savings!! Now if private business/stores want to decorate, fine!

Nah - that's all part of the game. Take away from the TRUE meaning of Christmas and create this whole big, blown up, warm and fuzzy yet pointless holiday (without Christ, Christmas is POINTLESS) and make it all about buying and selling. Make it all about the love of MONEY - the root of all kinds of evil.
Lets take the celebration of the Son of God, dumb it down a little bit so we don't hurt any consumers' feelings or step on their toes and make it all about buying things just because. . . ya know. . . it's. . . like. . . "that" time of year. Not because God offered us the greatest gift we never deserved or anything.
Personally, I like the lights and the decorations and the Christmas music and the egg nog and all that. But this pagentry should NEVER take away from the true meaning of CHRISTmas.
Christmas, like a lot of Christianity, has become more about pagentry and tradition than it has about the Lord Jesus Christ.

Better known at that time as simply "The Church" because there was no other until about 500 years ago. I love history. Those who are so fast to denounce the Catholic Church forget that they carried the banner alone for 1,500 years until we could have a Protestant reformation.

Try to remember without the "harlotry" Christianity might be a forgotten middle eastern cult.

ROFL! yeah..right...how about the Church at Antioch? how about the Church at Cornith? the list goes on an on...

Furthermore...the Church is just another dispensation of God. The way He has revealed Himself to mankind. Also, it could be declared a new set of convenant promises

That's not true. The hierarchy of the church didn't really start occuring on a grand scale until the 3rd century and it took several other factors to concentrate the power of the church in Rome.
The forged "Donation of Constantine" wasn't around until the 8th or 9th centuries. This was one of the big things that gave the church it's power over kings and the masses of Europe.
Until Islam spread in the Middle East, you had churches in Antioch and Jerusalem and the church in Constantinople actually broke away from the Catholic church and today it's known as Greek Orthodox.

As a Christian, you should KNOW that's false. Christianity is not a "cult" and people who water down the truth of God's Word didn't do anything besides lie to people just so they'd come under their control more easily.
"Cult" - what a terrible word to use to describe the worship of the Son of God.

Did not God rise up and destroy them for trying to use a Pagan image to honor him. Just a thought.

NO!

The generation that was delivered from Egyptian bondage and was on their way to the land God promised them (a land flowing with milk and honey) was not permitted to enter Canaan because of unbelief. When the spies were sent into the land to scout it out, they returned with two reports. One group said it was inhabited with giants and the other group said that was so, but it was the land God had promised them and He would deliver the land to them.

The nation chose to believe the first report and thus the nation was denied entrance into Canaan for 40 years or until the entire generation that was afraid to take the land had passed off the scene.

Far be it for me to teach you about your religion, but I think you need to re-read exodus 32. I'll sum it up, Moses went up the hill and the Isrealites (God's chosen people) got a bit antsy when he didn't come back down right away. They wanted to build an alter to worship the lord, so Aaron told them to give up their gold and he threw it in the fire and out popped a Golden Calf (pagan symbol in Egypt). God tells Moses, you better get back down there, the heathens are dancing naked around a shiny cow and I am going to kill them all. Moses says, no problem Lord, let me handle it. He goes down and is really teed off when he sees the mardi gras party atmosphere and tells the Levi boys to kill some of the heathens, so they whack about 3,000 of them. Aaron says, sorry bro, I couldn't contol them, so I tried to appease them by giving them a pagan symbol, but let them worship the lord thru it.

Moral of the story......You can't take a pagan symbol, give it a Christian meaning and use it to worship God. If he was going to kill all of the Israelites (his chosen people) who he was leading out of Egypt, how is he going to feel about you. I can only imagine what he is going to say when you tell him about the rabbits and the eggs! :122246

My2cents If the Bible was actually written like that, every kid in the world would be reading it just to find out what is going to happen next.
