A very serious weather situation developing (BLIZZARD ?)
Posted: Fri Dec 14, 2007 12:19 am
This is the single most difficult forecast I have ever had to make. Confidence is not high. This is a very complex and changing situation. So I am going to try to make sense of this.
A low pressure system develops tomorrow over North Texas and moves into the Mississippi Valley tomorrow night. At the same time another low pressure center develops off the east coast of Florida and moves up the east coast. These have the potential to combine and create blizzard conditions Saturday night and Sunday over parts of the Northern Ohio Valley and Lower Great Lakes. If you recal, the blizzard of 1978 featured 2 storms clashing head on right over Ohio. This time it appears two storms may come very close to a collision over PA. That would throw heavy snow and wind back into Ohio. Any shift in the track of these storms throw the whole thing off. So tonight I am going to focus mainly on the first storm and leave Late Saturday night and Sunday questionable.
Precipitation develops Saturday. There could be significant ice accumulations over Central Ohio through Saturday evening.
