Help settle a Debate, Song 1 or song 2?
Help settle a Debate, Song 1 or song 2?
Can you settle a debate? Listen to both versions and vote. I like version 1 the best but my wife says its not right, and that version 2 is the way it shoud be done.
Version 1 Hermes House band

version 2 John Denver and the Pictures in this video are really nice to look at.

Hanging with Biggdowgg all those years and listening to Barry over and over has warped you! Seriously, your version is a wee bit country, a wee bit reggae and a wee bit hip hop...a dangerously nauseating combination! I think that the lady should be put in jail for doing the song and prohibited to ever sing another John Denver tune. Also, the video was freaky, especially with Lubbock on it.
If we ever go fishing together..I'm going to make sure you can't shove any music in the CD player!

The ultimate cover version of this song was released in 1995 by Jason and the Scorchers.

Twenty three hours a day.......#2.
If it is 1 o'clock in the morning at your local gin-mill and with a bunch of friends...#1.
99% of the time I go with #2.

That's a good one! Although, I like it best when the Mountaineer football team sings it after a home game myself.

I didn't see Kantucky in there but the guy singing in the black leather suit..... I'd like to have his nose full of quarters... I'd go down and buy myself a new diamond ring.

Sorry Oz, but I have to agree with your wife on this one. Even though that is a good cover version of the song you just can't beat the original version by John Denver.

Sorry, some songs are simply not to be covered by another artist, and this is one of them. I like all types of music and genres, but I couldn't stomach more than 30 seconds of #2.
Sorry Oz, there was nothing redeeming about that version, or the video, in particular.
I remember when the original was released, and it is one of those songs that simply should not be messed with.
