This is absurd.
When my dad was in Iraq, I'd answer my phone and the principal was fine with it.

Yes this is absurd, but a rule is a rule. If he broke the cell phone policy then he should be punished. By being suspended it seems that this isnt the first time the kid has broken the rule. Usually a first offence is taking the phone away. Maybe the he had a teacher that didnt know the arrangment when he proceeded to break the rule if there was such an arrangment made.

Here's but one more example of a man who is educated beyond his intelligence and incapable of thinking for himself

The HS official who dismissed the boy. He obviously needs strict instructions at all times and is incapable of making the right judgement call all on his own ![Wink ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Considering the circumstance, I would give the student a chance to talk to his father. You never know if that might be the last time you get to have a conversation. As a teacher, I would have not even taken his phone away from him.

I agree, Itwnpaw, all circumstances are not the same.

Although, that MSG probably wasn't out on the front lines like a Lance Corporal would be or something along those lines.
