HUNTINGTON -- "We are Marshall" is now in the finals against “Rudy” in the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival's competition for favorite football movie.

The online voting contest has pitted various football movies in a bracket to determine an ultimate winner to be shown at the Tribeca Drive-In screen in New York City on April 26.

“We Are Marshall” defeated “The Longest Yard” 62 percent to 38 percent, and “Remember The Titans” 66 percent to 34 percent. Then “Marshall” beat “Friday Night Lights” 92 percent to 8 percent.

The film, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox, tells the story of the rebirth of the Marshall University football program following the 1970 plane crash that killed most of the team, the coaches and several members of the Tri-State community.

Anyone can vote for a favorite by visiting the Web site at http://www.tribecafilmfestival.org/year-round/sportsfest/15938242.html.

The film festival takes place April 23 through May 4.

I don't think there is a comparison to the two movies....Both great movies....But, "Rudy" is a motivational movie....And, "We Are Marshall" is about a tragic event....

Hopefully "We Are Marshall" is the winner....

I've seen both of them and I liked both of them for different reasons. We Are Marshall will probably win, but they both should.

We are Marshall was good But Rudy is my favorite. Invincible is good to.

We Are Marshall got my vote. It was an excellent "local" movie. And I think its winning because of that reason only. It did not fair very well nationwide. I voted for it because it is a huge part of real sports history that I grew up around by visiting family during that time in that area.

Rudy was good but not among my favorites.

Invincible staggard away from the real life story to much.

Friday Night Lights also strayed away from the actual facts a little to much.

I am really surprised that Remeber the Titans did not do better. It was probably the best one on the list.

I LIKED BOTH ALSO, RUDY WAS A VERY EMOTIONAL , INSPIRING MOVIE . THAT WAS SUCH A FEEL GOOD MOVIE.

WE ARE MARSHALL, IS SO CLOSE TO HOME, GREAT ACTING, AND MEANS SO MUCH TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. ONE OF MY DADS IRONTON COACH'S CHARLIE KAUTZ, HAD JUST BECOME THE A.D. AT MARSHALL, AND DIED IN THAT CRASH. BOTH GREAT, I ALSO AGREE ABOUT REMEMBER THE TITANS. 3 GREAT MOVIES.

BUT I GOTTA SAY WE ARE MARSHALL, IS MY FAVORITE.
