OKAY INSERT JOKES HERE.

WE WENT AND DONE IT. BOUGHT THE NUTRASYSTEM DIET. GAWL DANG. IT'S EXPENSIVE. BUT IT WILL WORK ITSELF OUT. BECAUSE THE ONLY TIME WE WILL BE EATING OUT WILL BE OCCASIONALLY A SELECT MEAL AT AS A WEEKEND TREAT. IF ANYBODY HAS EVER DONE THIS , SHARE YOUR STORIES WITH US. BUT WE ARE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. HOPE YOU'LL BE SEEING LESS, AND LESS OF US. :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24

I have thought about Nutrasystem or Jenny Craig. My daughter is getting married Sept 20th, and I hate to even think about trying to find a dress. Let me know if the food is good. I know that my friend lost alot of weight on Jenny Craig, and she said the food was good.

Good Luck, I will be eager to find out how you all do.

Bait, if you and the Mrs. had just bought ONE plan and shared it, it would cost half as much and you would lose twice as fast. Just a thought.
Good luck, ole Buddy.

I have considered that kind of system in the past, but never actually tried it. It struck me as impractical, too expensive, and something I think it would be impossible to stick to strictly on your own if your family was eating otherwise [even more so if you had to provide/prepare meals for others not following that system]. The fact that you're doing it together is a huge plus!
Tell your kids they're absolutely on their own as far as eating goes, and to treat "food" like "mud" - don't carry it into the house, and if you do, clean it up immediately before I see it!
The trick will be staying OUT of grocery stores!
I have read and heard people say that the primary benefit of this kind of system is enforcement of "portion control". We all delude ourselves as to the amount of anything that constitutes a "helping"! A pre-measured meal system requiring little in the way of shopping or preparation strikes me as a great way to start retraining your mind, eyes, and stomach! I wish you both success!

YTB: Congrats on taking the initiative and making 'the step'. I have been doing Weight Watchers for a little over a year now and the biggest thing I've learned besides portion control is that this whole matter is in our heads. It's a game like many things and we decide who wins and who loses. We can say we 'can't' do something and we are defeated before we start. We can say we CAN and what's to stop us? In the beginning, when I wanted something I didn't need, I would picture it laying on the road or even worse, in an ashtray. I would aim for losing 'a gallon of milk' at a time. I don't know why I picked that, except it stuck in this feeble brain and I used it and have now lost the equivalent of 8 gallons. I'll come home and tell Mr. Mum, I've hit the next gallon and he laughs. My strides have been coming slowly but surely in every direction, thank goodness I'm patient because I lose slowly. I know I'm lengthy here, but, I know how much better my health is and I know you will reap big benefits. Be diligent and if you 'fall off the wagon', get back on immediately. Don't way until the next day, get there the next meal! I wish you both all the success and great health you can get! Good luck!!

The thing about diets is that pretty much all of them work, but the bad news is with most of them you can't live on the rest of your life. I think the best diet is to do the exact opposite of what you did to gain weight and that is to cut the intake and increase the exercise. That is something that you can live with for the rest of your life. I lost 50 pounds this year and I did it by just watching what I ate and started an exercise program. It's all about discipline :!: ;-)

I'VE BEEN KNOCKED DOWN SO MANY TIMES AND HAVE WENT THROUGH SO MUCH IN LIFE I REALLY THINK THAT THIS WILL BE THAT BIG A CHALLENGE. I'M MORE WORRIED ABOUT GETTING FIT AGAIN, THROUGH EXCERSISE. I JUST HOPE THE BROKEN BACK , AND STEEL KNEE DOES NOT LIMIT EXCERSISE SO MUCH. WHICH WILL MOSTLY FOR ME BE WALKING , AND SOME LIGHT WEIGHTS WITH THE UPPER BODY TO TRY TO TONE UP WHAT WE LOSE. IT'S EXPENSIVE TO ORDER THE FOOD, BUT IF YOU ARE NOT EATING OUT, OR SHOPPING , OTHER THAN FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. WE FIGURED IT SHOULD NOT MAKE MUCH OF A CHANGE.

I HOPE WHEN YOU SEE ME FRIDAY AT THE SCRIMMAGE, THAT YOU'LL SEE MUCH LESS OF ME WEEK 11 AT THE TANK, WHEN WE HOST OUR PLAYOFF GAME. THE MIND OVER MATTER STUFF, DOES NOT EVEN WORRY ME. I JUST HOPE I CAN GET MORE ACTIVE WITH MY PROBLEMS.

I watched a show one time where they said, when you eat, whether it is at home or in a restaurant, fill your plate as usual. Get a second plate and cut everything on the first plate in half and place on second plate. Eat what is on one plate and save the other half for the next day. That way you are still eating what you like but only half as much and he said it is the best diet ever. Don't know if it works but it does sound good.
