Gran Torino

Has anyone else seen this movie yet? Clint Eastwood does it again and both directs and acts in another excellent movie. It's not an action packed thriller, but a very poignant story of a very racist old white man coming to terms with his hatred after his wife passes away by becoming friends with an Asian family that lives next door. Very powerful performance by Eastwood and a movie I highly reccommend.

By the way, the car (Gran Torino) is one very sweet ride. A buddy of mine had one almost identical to it back in the mid 80's.

The movie is very very good. If you get the chance, also download the movie title song by Jamie Callum and Clint Eastwood. It is very good as well.
This movie was the best movie I have seen, since Road to Perdition. At age 78, Eastwood can still get it done acting and directing.

Anyone think this will be Eastwood's last time acting? As a John Wayne fan, this movie had many, many parallels to Wayne's last movie, The Shootist, also one of my favorites. Anyone see this or am I reaching?

XandOs I hope you are reaching but you might be right. I think he will be directing more movies than acting in them in the future.

X's and O's: Also among my video library is the Shootist. I still think that is the best job Wayne did in a movie. Maybe because it paralelled his real life. My personal favorite John Wayne film, is The Sonds of Katie Elder. Dean Martin is one of my favortie entertainers of all time.

I believe Eastwood will act again, but maybe not in a similar role. I dont think the big tough guy will be around much anymore. However, a softer role may be in his future. Stay tuned.

X's and o's: Ever see Road to Perdition with Tom Hanks and Paul Newman? Newman, along with Gene Hackman and Jack Nicholson, are my favorite three actors. Road to Perdition is an excellent film. Jude Law is excellent in this movie as well.
