In Honor Of Ironton's Former Band Director - Ralph Falls

Post by kantuckyII »

His son has just posted that his father has pass away. My condolences and prayer to the Falls' family. He was a great band leader of Ironton's Million Dollar Marching Band.

There is a Facebook page that honors Mr. Falls and on that page, there are some great old photos that I thought some Ironton folks would love to see. I'm hoping I might be able to get some of these to put on Irontonfootball.com as well.

Anyway, here's the group if you have a Facebook Page and would like to join: and here's the photos:

Condolences to Kay, Tim and Lonnie. Kay graduated with Mrs TTT and has been a friend of the family for years.

RIP Ralph.......

Thanks for posting that Facebook link. I played plenty of ball back in the day with Tim and Lonnie. My thoughts and prayers go out to this great Ironton family as well.

Condolences to the family. What a great man he was. I was lucky to be part of the Million Dollar Marching Band in the 80's. Those were the days when there were at times, to many people who wanted to be in the band and you sometimes had to tryout to make it. What an awesome band it was under his direction. Also had to honor of making the trip to the World's Fair again with him as the director. He was a great director and a great asset to the school and community.

My son, the band member [grad in 84], absolutely agrees! I just talked to him.
He had graduated HS in May and was headed to college at Wright State - which didn't start til late Sept - and saw Mr. Falls on the street in downtown Ironton in late August.
Mr. Falls said "You're still here?! - I really need another trombonium player -come play with us."
And my son DID - that year and the next - play and march with the Million Dollar Fighting Tiger band for the first few games of the season - after he had graduated, but before his college classes started. He really loved, respected, and appreciated the time he spent with Ralph Falls.
