1.) 1st team All state Guard basketball, 2nd team All state Qb football, All State SS in baseball
2.) Was drafted by the L.A.Dodgers in baseball (originally S.F. Giants out of high school)
3.)Was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in basketball
4.) During his senior year of college basketball scored in double figures in a upset of the defending Nat'l champs and double figures again in a loss to the eventual Nat'l champs in the NCAA Tourney.

Yes, he had an Uncle who played basketball at UC who was actually younger than him

Answer: John Shoemaker, Waverly Tigers, 1974 grad. He Went to Miami (Oh) and helped the 1978 Redskins basketball team upset defending champion Marquette and they lost to eventual champion Kentucky in the NCAA Tourney. He has held numerous positions in coaching, managing and player development with the Dodgers since that time and I think he's still managing in their farm system now.

I believe he only played one year of football. He was an effective QB but awkward at it as he had no prior gridiron experience. We will never how great a QB he could have been if basketball had not been his primary high school sport.
