Neil Peart, legendary drummer for Rush, passed away earlier today at his home in Santa Monica, Ca. He had been battling a brain tumor for the past 3 1/2 years.

Condolences to his family....

He is in my top 5 drummers....EVER! Saw them perform in Atlanta back in 2014...the R40 tour and a couple of other times prior to that.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a shock and loss to the Rock World! One of my all time favorite drummers as well. Seen Rush in the old Cooper stadium in Columbus. What a treat it was. The man was more than Awesome on the drum kit. The quadruplet king with lightning fast hands! RIP Neil. You was God sent, and filled millions of ears with a one of a kind style of drumming. I'm glad I have most of Rush's albums (CD's). Think I will listen to Rush's greatest hits right now in memory of him.
Couple of videos of him in his earlier and older times.

YYZ DRUM SOLO.

SOLO LIVE IN FRANKFURT

RUSH. Leave that thing alone & Drum Solo.

---------------------
Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon
I remember
How we talked and drank into the misty dawn
I hear the voices
We ran by the water on the wet summer lawn
I see the footprints
I remember
I feel the way you would
I feel the way you would
Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood
I remember
The shouts of joy, skiing fast through the woods
I hear the echoes
I learned your love for life
I feel the way that you would
I feel your presence
I remember
I feel the way you would
This just can't be understood

I didn't know he had cancer. So glad I saw Rush in their last tour (and 9 other tours since 1984).

I didn't either, Flush. I bet very many did. Peart and his family probably kept it on a down low. It was Glioblastoma. A very aggressive tumor (cancer) in the brain. Hard to treat and others that have had it did not survive I read.

Glioblastoma....very nasty. Survival rate is low. This is what took Sen. McCain and way too many others.

Peart was a very quiet person...according to both Alex and Geddy.

Earlier in his life....he lost his daughter in a car wreck and 2 years later, his first wife to cancer. He took time off and rode his Harley across N. America and then wrote a book about it.

He leaves behind his second wife and a daughter. Along with millions of fans!!

Comrade trenchfoot. We loved Mr. Peart back in the motherland. We would set for hours on end sipping vodka listening to his full chimpanzee drum solos. Isn't it amazing they kept his death quiet all that time? He died Tuesday and it didn't get out until yesterday.

Yeah I see on CNN where he passed Tuesday the 7th, Bob. Probably kept it quiet as long as they could. Awhile back in my rock-un and beer drinking days my buddies and I use to jam on Rush quite often. Sounds like the Rush band was well liked in Russia as well by the way you talk. They was definitely loved here in the USA and Canada. What kind of Vodka did you prefer in the motherland/Soviet Union/Russia? That is Vodka heaven over there in the frozen tundra winters.

Not too expensive, Trench. Around 17.99-19.99 for a fifth. About 37 bucks on average for a half gallon. I consider it a top shelf vodka...smooth with a little bite.

Buy a fifth and let me know. Or buy a smaller size bottle.

Not too bad of price, old timer. I don't drink that much anymore, but when I get some liquor sometime in the future I will pick up a pint, and I'll let ya know ole bud. Would any State store have it?

They might, Trench. I keep forgot that Ohio is one 17 states who either own the liquor stores or control them...the latter being the case for Ohioans. One problem is prices are actually higher..according to a survey done in 2013. About 2.04 dollars compared to states like Florida.

Also, these states don't always carry all brands. I hope the stores in your area have Titos. Makes a very good bloody mary.

Hope that helps...
