Hmmm........what kind of questions would those be??????

I think these are good questions I'm asking.

Should I ask "What are the team colors of the Buckeyes?"

If people won't learn anything from the trivia, why bother asking the questions in the first place?

#5 and #14 are correct. NY has one state championship in 1981 in Division 4. Also, Ironton and Wheelersburg are the only two teams in southeastern Ohio that has played in more playoff games than NY.

#12 is partially correct

#4 is wrong

You are correct! Concerning #6, NY has two Regional Championships, both in Division IV, Region 15 - 1981 and 1982.

Concerning #12, NY has been in the following regions in its history:
Class AA, Region 7
Division III, Region 11
Division IV, Region 15
Division V, Region 19

The second part of question #12 has not been answered - what years were NY in each of those divisions? (include both playoff and non-playoff years).

You are correct on the following:
1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 14

You are partially correct on:
3, 12, 13

You are wrong on:
2, 6, 10, 11

Breakdown on those that have not already been discussed -

#1 - NY has played a total of 18 playoff games in team history.

#4 - NY has played Wheelersburg more times in the playoffs than any other team - a total of four games. Each team has won two games each.

#7 - NY has won three regional runner-up trophies - 1994 (D IV, R 15), 1997 (D IV, R 15), and 1998 (D V, R 19).

#8 - The most points scored by NY in the playoffs is 41 points and it has happened twice - 1994 vs. Coshocton and 1997 vs. Wheelersburg.

#9 - The most points given up by NY in the playoffs is 61 in 1998 vs. Wheelersburg.

#14 - The only teams in southeastern Ohio who have made the playoffs more than Nelsonville-York are Ironton and Wheelersburg.

And here is a breakdown on the ones you are partially right on that have not been covered yet -

#3 - NY did make the playoffs in the following years: '81, '82, '94, '97, '98, '00, '05, and '08. NY did not make the playoffs in the following years: '91, '93, '01. There are four more playoff years that you did not mention.

#13 - Kind of ambiguous, but I'll give you partial credit! :) Anyone going to take a stab at an actual number?

#2. 7-11 is their record.

#3. 12 times. 1981, 1982, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008

#10. Here is what I have so far... 2003 @ Woodsfield L 9-7, 2004 @ Amanda-Clearcreek L 43-6, 2005 @ East Know L 35-28, 2006 Home vs Columbus Academy L 55-21, 2008 Home vs Liberty-Union L 15-14.

#11. Here is what I have so far... 1981 - #2, 1982 - #2, 2003 - #5, 2004 - #8, 2005 - #7, 2006 - #3, 2008 - #3.

That is all I have for now. Since the dew is gone, I need to get into the hayfield. Maybe I can dig so more on the internet tonight and come up with some more...but the early years are hard to find! I guessed on 1981 and 1982 since only 2 teams in each region made it to the playoffs in those years and you had to be 10-0 then just to get in and our region included powerhouse Columbus teams that could rack up the points when they were 10-0!

#2 is correct. NY is 7-11 all-time in the 18 playoff games they have played.

#3 is now totally correct. 1992 and 2003 were the two missing years, bringing the final tally of years NY has made the playoffs to 12 times. 1981, 1982, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008.

#10 is partially correct - all of the information you provided is right - still missing the info. from the following years - 1981, 1982, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1998, and 2000.

2003 - Division 5, Region 19 Quarterfinals @ Monroe Central High School (Woodsfield)

Monroe Central 9 Nelsonville-York 7

2004 - Division 5, Region 19 Quarterfinals @ Amanda-Clearcreek High School (Amanda)

Amanda-Clearcreek 43 Nelsonville-York 6

2005 - Division 5, Region 19 Quarterfinals @ East Knox High School (Howard)

East Knox 35 Nelsonville-York 28

2006 - Division 5, Region 19 Quarterfinals @ Nelsonville-York High School (Nelsonville)

Columbus Academy 55 Nelsonville-York 21

2008 - Division 5, Region 19 Quarterfinals @ Nelsonville-York High School (Nelsonville)

Liberty Union 15 Nelsonville-York 14

#11 - every year you list is right except 1982. Since only 2 teams qualified back in '82, I'll give the answer here by default - NY was the #1 seed.

1981 - Division 4, Region 15 - #2 out of 36 teams with 78.7778 total points. Coal Grove was the top seed with 80.4722 points. Only the top two schools qualified at the time and there were only 5 divisions back then. Had the playoffs expanded to include 4 or 8 teams at that time, the year of NY's state championship would have seen this breakdown in the region:

1. Coal Grove 80.4722
2. Nelsonville-York 78.7778

3. Toronto 75.9507
4. Cadiz 69.3889
5. Johnstown-Monroe 56.5000
6. Fredericktown 54.2500
7. Byesville Meadowbrook 49.1250
8. Hanoverton United 41.5278

1982 - Division 4, Region 15 - #1 out of 37 teams with 99.5000 points. Crooksville was the second seed with 88.7500 points and only the top two seeds qualified for the playoffs in only five divisions that year. Had the playoffs expanded to include 4 or 8 teams at that time, the year of NY's other regional championship would have seen this breakdown in the region:

1. Nelsonville-York 99.5000
2. Crooksville 88.7500

3. Coal Grove 61.8703
4. Cadiz 61.2917
5. Fairfield Union 58.0000
6. Trimble 53.8750
7. Fairland 53.3056
8. Caldwell 43.2500

1992 - TBA

1994 - TBA

1997 - TBA

1998 - TBA

2000 - TBA

2003 - Division 5, Region 19 - #5 out of 30 teams with 18.6500 average points. With a #5 seed, NY was the benefit of expanded playoffs. 8 teams, 6 divisions. Here was the breakdown that year.....

1. Amanda Clearcreek 25.3000
2. Shenandoah 24.2040
3. Chesapeake 20.8230
4. Monroe Central 19.6220
5. Nelsonville-York 18.6500
6. Wheelersburg 18.0930
7. Minford 16.8500
8. West Lafayette Ridgewood 15.5000

2004 - Division 5, Region 19 - #8 out of 30 teams with 16.9500 average points. With a #8 seed, NY was the benefit of expanded playoffs. 8 teams, 6 divisions. Here was the breakdown that year.....

1. Amanda-Clearcreek 27.8680
2. Wheelersburg 25.0500
3. Johnstown Northridge 23.9480
4. West Lafayette Ridgewood 18.5500
5. Chesapeake 17.6840
6. Crooksville 17.1500
7. Steubenville Catholic Central 17.0270
8. Nelsonville-York 16.9500

2005 - Division 5, Region 19 - #7 out of 30 teams with 14.1500 average points. With a #7 seed, NY was the benefit of expanded playoffs. 8 teams, 6 divisions. Here was the breakdown that year.....

1. Bishop Ready 21.2000
2. Howard East Knox 20.1500
3. Wheelersburg 18.9030
4. Lucasville Valley 18.8530
5. Grandview Heights 18.5510
6. Centerburg 14.7000
7. Nelsonville-York 14.1500
8. Adena 13.5000

2006 - Division 5, Region 19 - #3 out of 30 teams with 17.7500 average points. With a #3 seed, NY was able to host its first ever home football game since the expansion to include 8 teams in each region making the playoffs - unfortunately it was against a private school. 8 teams, 6 divisions. Here was the breakdown that year.....

1. West Jefferson 24.3333
2. Amanda-Clearcreek 22.0500
3. Nelsonville-York 17.7500
4. Johnstown-Monroe 16.5000
5. Federal Hocking 15.4700
6. Columbus Academy 13.8000
7. Adena 13.6000
8. Fredericktown 13.4500

2008 - Division 5, Region 19 - #3 out of 30 teams with 19.7000 average points. With a #3 seed, NY was able to host its second home football game since the expansion to include 8 teams in each region making the playoffs. 8 teams, 6 divisions. Here was the breakdown that year.....

1. Portsmouth West 22.7340
2. Wheelersburg 19.7640
3. Nelsonville-York 19.7000
4. Johnstown-Monroe 18.9000
5. Bishop Ready 18.4910

More #10.

2000 @ Ashland Crestview L 14-13

1998 Round 1 - Home vs Lucasville Valley W 21-14, Round 2 - @ Wheelersburg L 61-19

1997 Round 1 - @ Wheelersburg W 41-14, Round 2 - still working on it but it was a loss.

1994 Round 1 - Not sure of location vs Coshocton W 41-?, Round 2 - Not sure of location vs Wheelersburg L 28-7,

1992 Round 1 - @ Portsmouth vs Ironton L 14-0.

Still need all 3 games of 1981 (all were wins) and both games of 1982 (1 win and 1 loss). Also need 1997 round 2 info, correct?

Still need all 3 games of 1981 (all were wins) and both games of 1982 (1 win and 1 loss). Also need 1997 round 2 info, correct?

1997 beat Wheelersburg in Lancaster then lost to Bellaire 39-6 in Regional Finals! We were the #1 seed and lost to the #2 seed Bellaire in Zanesville who had beat Piketon in a close game the week before!

In 1998 even though it was a home game didn't they play Lucasville Valley in Athens?

I think the location against Coshocton in '94 was Zanesville and the loss to Wheelersburg was Portsmouth spartan stadium or Ironton I believe

You may very well be right. While I can find scores from the 1990's, the sites are difficult to sometimes find.

I am sure NYBuckeye96 knows. ;-)
