Jesse Belvin reunited with Philips for one of many cover versions of Gene and Eunice's Ko Ko Mo (I Love You So). Gene and Eunice accounted for one of the covers themselves. They had offered the song first to Aladdin Records and signed a contract, but when Aladdin showed no interest, they cut it for a small Los Angeles label. When the hit began to break, Aladdin forced Gene and Eunice to re-record it for them.

Little notice was paid to what was happening in the R & B roadhouses in 1949.Yet by 1956, the music was accepted on its own term. In time,R & B was credited for giving birth to rock,n, roll, which on a grander scale changed popular music forever.
