The Essex was an all-male quatet of Marines until they added lead singer Anita Humes, another Marine they found singing at the NCO club.

Ike and Tina Turner were a team, although It's Gonna Work Out Fine displayed peculier teamwork. For starters, that's not Ike who responds when Tina beckons "Ikey" midsong; its ace session guitarist Mickey Baker, who duetted with his wife, Sylvia, on the 1956 smash Love Is Strange.

Sonny Knight (Joey Smith) singer-pianist got his start by picking up the L.A. yellow pages and looking under "Record Companies"--He signed with the first name he came upon. (Aladdin Records) he took his song Confidential here and it became a hit.

Rod Bernard suffered a severe nosebleed while singing This should Go on Forever at a performance and was forced to continue, singing through a towel.
