COAL GROVE, OH-A good crowd and a top quality field of 70 cars were in attendance on a beautiful day for racing at Rocky Top on April 25th. Late Models had the biggest car count of the night at 23 while 19 Tomahawk Race Car Modifieds were in attendance along with 15 Bombers and 13 Mod Lites.

In the 30 lap Late Model A-Main, Jackie Boggs took the lead at the start while Eddie Carrier Jr. put his Carl Grover Motorsports #28 machine in the second spot. Carrier then set his sights on Boggs as they battled for the lead. On lap 16, R. J. Conley continued his charge to the front as he overtook Carrier for the second spot and three laps later battled side by side for the lead with Boggs. Conley pressured Boggs for the remaining laps but couldn’t make the pass as Jackie Boggs came to the checkers to claim the $2,000 win! R. J. Conley finished second with Kenny Christy third, Eddie Carrier Jr. fourth, and Terry Hicks fifth. Jackie Boggs won the Tri-America Contractors Dash while Terry Hicks and Jared Hawkins won Engines Inc. heat races.

Excitement came early in the Tomahawk Race Car Modified A-Main as a nine car crash occurred on the first turn! All the cars except Brock Chaney were able to continue. When the race resumed, polesitter Todd Robinson led while Jason Perry moved into the second position. Jason Perry finished second with Craig Christian third, Adam Colley fourth, and Adam Jordan fifth. Todd Robinson won the Tri-America Contractors dash while Adam Jordan and Beadie Blackburn won Engines Inc. heat races.

In the Bomber A-Main, Wayne Hughes took the lead at the start with David Dunn moving fast into the second position. Hughes and John Rayburn won Engines Inc. heat races.

Ironton, Ohio driver Tony Sites took the lead at start of the Mod Lite A-Main while Scott Morris moved into second and battled him side by side for the lead. Fourth place starter Jerry Cushing put his #222 up high and passed Sites for the lead on lap three with Morris following him to battle side by side for the lead. The race took a dramatic turn on lap eight as Cushing and Morris made contact under caution with Cushing going out on the hook. With Cushing out, Morris was now the leader with James Watson in second.

On the restart, Morris led the next two laps while Watson took the lead on lap 12. Morris regained the lead the next lap and took the white flag first.
