RTR set for "GCP Engines Twin 30's"
By: T. J. Layne

COAL GROVE, OH-The first official special event race of the 2008 season at Rocky Top will take place on Friday, May 9th with the "GCP Engines Twin 30's". In addition to our weekly 30 lap, $2,000 to win Late Model show, the Tomahawk Race Car Modifieds will take center stage with a 30 lap, $1,000 to win show. Bombers and Mod Lites will also be racing for their regular purses.

"All of us at RTR want to say a very special thanks to George Cauldwell and GCP Engines for making this event possible", stated RTR promoter T. J. Layne. "We are off to the best start we have ever had with the Tomahawk Race Car Modified division as far as car counts, quality of fields, and exciting racing. With $1,000 to win, and extra money on every position through the field, this should be one incredible show for the fans!"

There have been five previous Tomahawk Race Car Modified special events in track history with four different winners. Those winners are Doug Adkins ($1,000 in 2007 Twin 30's and 2006 AMRA Road Warrior Tour race) Craig Christian ($2,000 in Walter Jenkins Memorial in 2006), David McWilliams ($1,500 in Accent Health Care Twin 30's in 2005), and Todd Robinson ($1,000 in Goodyear 30 in 2005). In the 2007 running of the Twin 30's, Rod Conley took the win in the Late Model portion while Doug Adkins won the Tomahawk Race Car Modified portion.

While more money is on the line for the drivers, the fans are the real winners of the "GCP Engines Twin 30's" as General Admission will remain the same at $12 for adults and $2 for kids 12 and under. Pit Admission also remains the same at $25. RTR features grandstand seating along with plenty of space for fans to bring lawnchairs. For more information visit http://www.rockytopraceway.net.
