Can a river turn over? I was on it a bit last night..the muddy water is so strange. We've not that much rain around us or north of us. Besides, the mud doesn't look like normal muddy water..it does look like a lake that's turned over. I spotted temps down to the mid-60's in places already

Not sure. Without a big rain to create a strong current, how could it turn over? Were you above the Greenup dam or below?

lakes don't turn til they temps in the 50's. It's my understanding that streams/rivers with moving water don'ty turn.

I have read since that rivers like the Ohio River, at times, do turn over because of the lock system. I was above the dam....a good bit actually

i believe they can and especially with depths at least in the ironton area , of only around 30 feet, like 32 near ashland bridge.
