Vinton Co @ Belpre

Post by BLUEGRASSVIKE »

VC is getting closer to another TVC title, but Belpre is ALWAYS a tough place to play. I will take the Vikes by about 15 in this one.

VC 66
Belpre 51

Seeing how VC only won by 12 at home and the Eagles played without 2 starters I look for a much closer game at The Eagles Nest and with at least one of the starters back Belpre may even pull the big upset. I say Belpre in a close one 62-60

You must not have been at the game. Vinton County dominated the game against Belpre at home. They were up 17 with 2 minutes to go. Pulled all the starters and Belpre made 2 threes in the last minute. Vinton County should have no problem winning again. People continue to say that Vinton County has to get respect. They are a well defined program and everyone said earlier this year that this would be a rebuilding year. Looks like Coach Combs knows how to get the best out of his players. From what I have seen this year, they know how to hustle and they play together as a "team". The only downfall that I see that hurts them is they are inconsistent at the free throw line. That seems to keep games closer than they should be. Do not know much about Piketon, but they better come prepared.

I think this will be a tough game for the Vikings. Belpre always plays well at home.

I have to take Vinton in this one. For the past few years, no TVC-Ohio team has knocked off the Vikings, so until that happens, the Vikes will be the favorite. I hope Belpre wins though. I think the Eagles can give them a good run for their money if they show up and play. They need to pressure Vinton's guards and force turnovers, because Belpre has no chance of winning a low post grind it out game. Belpre has the athletes, but do they have the desire?

I heard Plummer made the schedule for this one as well. Here it goes:

12:00 (Noon) Varsity Boys, 2 quarters
1:20 5th Grade Indoor Soccer
3:15 Women's Swimming
5:00 Varsity Boys, 1 1/2 quarters
6:00 JV boys
8:00 Hot dog eating contest
8:35 Varsity Boys, 1/2 quarter

All the boys playing are eligible by OHSAA rules.

Anybody who set out of any Belpre games the past few weeks did so based on Belpre's higher academic standard (per school policy) than the OHSAA.

Anybody on here know what the minimum GPA is per the OHSAA to be eligible?

LETS GO EAGLES!!!

I'm fairly positive that you HAVE to pass 5 credits.

Not sure. The OHSAA website will answer any questions you have though.

I know the answer.

I want to see if anybody else in this thread knows what they are talking about before they comment on whom is eligible.

The only people that I have seen comment on Belpre's eligibility was Belpre fans. I believe it was belprefamily??? Not sure of the screen name but whoever it was clearly was upset about the grade situation and what was done.

Yeah, "belprefamily" had their panties in a wad. If they had read their kid's Belpre handbook they would have known what was needed to be eligible by both the OHSAA and Belpre and what the penalty was if you didn't meet the requirements on Belpre's end.
