im baffled at chilli's play tonight. this is the 1st time in at least 4 yrs, chilli didnt press one bit. none whatsoever....1st time chilli played, marietta couldnt get past midcourt because of the press. was coach K holding the press off because of other scouts being there? just very curious

bronc,

I did not talk to Coach after the game. IMO, the following occurred.

1) Cavs played 7 kids (2 played sparingly - London and Beverly). If we press, we may give up some open looks. I thought we sat down in the perimeter defense and just gave them a few good looks. We may speed up the game, but with a 14-4 lead, there was no reason. I would have loved to see the Diamond Press.

2) We have been in pretty serious foul trouble (see Warren game). Our scrimmage area defense is as good as anyone. We held them to 39, so it worked pretty well.

3) To your point, scouts are in the arena. Everyone has seen us and knows what we do, but I thought we played it close to the vest.

I will talk about the game later. Trying to hear Akron since I don't have Horizon to watch them. Time Warner sucks....

GO CAVS!!!

Congrats Chilly on your 3rd straight District title!! Last night's game was a little sluggish, but you definately got the feeling that if the Cavs could get to 50, the Tigers wouldn't. Wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate this Sr. class... they have made (and still are making) history in Chillicothe and Ross County. Not only did they help bring home the city and county's 1st boys state basketball title, but according to the programs sold at the Convo, they are the 1st Ross County school to win 3 straight District crowns in boys basketball. At ANY level, in ANY district in Ohio, that is quite a feat... it just doesn't happen very often. As stated last year on this forum, 30 years from now, bkb fans in this area will look back on this current group of kids, and the Chilly program in general as having once-in-a-generation type of success. Good luck next week against the Braves... Go Cavs!!!

Hitchbone believe me when I say this Time Warner is way better than Horizon(picture freezes alot,DVR wont work all the time, can't record HD)There's alot of other things that Horizon does that Time Warner doesnt! Now on to the game and my opinion. Congrats to the Marietta on a great season! Congrats to the CAVS on being 3 time District CHAMPS!!!!! If Coach K. would have pressed any the game would have been very ugly for Marietta and Chillicothe would have probably scored 100 points, but as you said no reason especially having a comfortable lead. I personally think he knew that they were going to win and like with Zanesville he did't want to show anything at all! Eventhough teams out there now what we do Chillicothe has that Diamond press that will absolutley give a team fits and a couple more defensive sets. He was smart at what he did because it worked and now he can really let loose on Thursday!!!! I feel there was alot more fan base there than there was last game. There were more students there also. The Admin staff tried with getting a bus but only 5 students signed up. If there is any CAVS fan that is reading this that has not been to a game because of unknown reasons, if you are a true blue CAVS fan that has not been to a game for unknown reasons,GET YOUR BEHINDS TO THE CONVO on Thursday!!!!!!!GO CAVS!!!!
