Westin Hale kept them in the game in the 1st half and Ryan Borden with tow of the biggest shots in Jackson County history...one on an open three and one on a very contested fade away, nothing but the freaking net 25 footer.

Great ft shooting from those guards late in the game and both OT's.

So much has been made of the other stuff. Stuff that is not at the control of the kids, kids who just want to play, nor is it Coach Persin fault, a great motivator who just wants to coach. Their desire for each other, the team, their school and finally their community, came down to this final weekend. And what a weekend it was!

I have seen thousands of games, this game was clearly one of the best game I have ever seen. It was a classic chess match between two legendary coaches. Each team had each other scouted to a tee, each team stuck with their game plan, and each coach made substitutions, called timeouts, and made the right play call at the right time, as you would expect two chess masters to do. There is a reason why Kortokrax has won 700 plus games and Persin has won 500 plus.

I was proud to be a member of the Southeast District today. Congratulations to the Oaks and the Oak Hill community!

Congratulations to the Oak Hill players and coaches from the Piketon Redstreak boys basketball coaching staff and players! It was a great ride for both of us, and we're glad you captured the prize in D-4! Friday morning at the hotel as we were leaving to return to Piketon, got the chance to shake hands and talk to the players and coaches...they were ALL very class act and respectful...I saw the same hunger in their eyes as our players had! I am not surprised they won the game at all...It a big stepping stone for Southeastern Ohio that we've been trying to accomplish for several years...You guys took a big leap for us once again! Congratulations again to Coach Persin, the players, and to the community!

Congrats to Coach Persin and the Oaks on this milestone. Basketball is getting better and better around southeastern ohio. Kids are getting exposed to bigger and better things at an earlier and earlier age. I remember when I was a kid(which wasn't to long ago, graduated in 2005) you did not so much hear about all of this AAU action and OYB. Kids are getting more and more gym time, and learning how to compete and BELIEVE they can win as they play in the big games. BTW did the season just end?? I'm already ready for summer basketball!!!
