Scott was a great player but the best shooter in the history of Piketon High School would have been
Randy Trusty or Drexel Williams. Legg wouldn't even be in the top 5.

from the wheelersburg website since 1993:
3-Pt. Field Goal Percentage
(Minimum 40 Attempts)

Aaron Burleson 46.1% (35-76) ‘95-’96
Casey Ellis 45.5% (20-44) ‘96-’97
Drew Spradlin 44.9% (22-49) ’04-‘05
Matt Jenkins 42.9% (24-56) ’07-‘08
Drew Spradlin 42.1% (48-114) ’05-‘06
Nick Carrington 41.5% (17-41) ’04-‘05
Drew Spradlin 41.1% (46-112) ’06-‘07
Matt Weaver 40.0% (26-65) ‘01-’02
Camden Miller 39.2% (20-51) ’05-‘06
Jonathan Eaton 39.0% (55-141) ‘94-’95
Dustin Sampson 39.0% (16-41) ‘95-’96
Seth Cowgill 38.5% (37-96) ’06-‘07

Since these stats are for three pointers, I would call that "pure shooters".

For Peebles, Marc Kremin, when he crossed half court he was in range.

i agree with kremin. i coached him his senior yr at peebs and the greatest shooting game i have ever seen was the west union game. i think he had 39 with no 3 pt line and he was bombing them in from 25-30 ft thats no lie.

At Ironton St. Joe it would have to be the "Postman" Jim Malhmeister Sr. Jim scored over 1700 points without the benifit of a 3 point line. I was not lucky enough to see Jim play but was lucky enough to work over 20 years with him.

Yeah, Pirate Fan 2010 :122249. Spradlin's name was mentioned, three times as a matter of fact, on the all- time Burg shooters' list cut and pasted above.

Carl Wolfe of Racine Southern scored 698 pts in one season and had a 57 FG%.
Ronnie Salser '' '' '' 476 pts ''' ''' 59 FG %
Jim Adams '' '' '' 433 pts '' '' '' 50 FG%
Duane Wolfe ''' '' '' 494 pts '' '' '' 48FG%
Chip Brauer '' '' '' 409 pts '' '' '' 53 FG%
Jack Duffey '' '' '' 465 pts '' '' '' 56 FG%
Dale Teaford '' '' '' 438 pts '' '' '' 53 FG%
Kent Wolfe '' '' '' 615 pts '' '' '' 49 FG%
All of these players played before the three point line. They all scored over 400 pts in one season and all shot around 50% or better. That would have to make them pretty good shooters.

At the Peake the best was Randy Hall, Charlie Camp, Mark D'Antoni, Dale Russell, and of course Tammy Wood. I'm sure there are others, but all these played before there was any 3-point line. At Coal Grove without a doubt the best shooter to ever come out of there was Chuck "How Many Do I Have" McKnight, he dropped bombs like a Stealth Fighter on Iraq. He'd have scored twice as much if there'd been a 3 back then.

Fasteach...Milhoan played reserve ball during his freshman and sophomore years and led the
Blue Imps to a 40-0 record. He didn't make the varsity until his junior year because of Gallia's second top scorer in history, Jim Thomas, who played four years at Miami, Ohio. Other players on that great 1953-54 squad were Russ Smith, Henry Niday, Pete Nibert and Glen Niday.

Unseeded Portsmouth, with the great Curt Gentry, upset GAHS in the sectional tourney in old men's gym on the hill in Athens, 51-47.

Portsmouth Trojans........Kyle Taylor, 1981-84...........Everytime I watch Michael Redd I'm reminded of him. Had very successful careers at both Marshall and Xavier........................Patrick Tubbs, 1985-88........Point guard for state champions in 1988. Cool under pressure. Went on to play at Morehead State with Brett Roberts from SW.

Tobias, Trojandave has already mentioned Craig Tubbs. Otherwise, I would have him at the top of my list.

From Northwest when I played with stefan spriggs he was not the best shooter but he sure did make some of the craziest shots i've ever seen on a regular basis at that,

Even though im pretty sure one of the best shooters to ever come out of northwest was jason smith from the 98 squad (im not 100% on that but I hear alot about his shooting)

A couple of guys already mentioned....Scarberry of Green and Thompson of Waverly were lights out.

A couple of guys not mentioned.....Rick Farrell of Portsmouth West and Phil Snow of Sabina (think it's called East Clinton now).

From my alma mater I'd say current WVU player Cam Thoroughman which is funny since he's used mainly as a rebounder.

I have seen many good players over the years but Chuck Mcknight of Coal Grove is the best i have ever seen. Never saw a shot he didnt like. Quickest release and no conscious. He would shoot almost as soon as he passed half court. Many games 30+ with no 3 point line. If someone could correct me if I am wrong but I thought two games over 50 in his career without the 3 point line. He played in the early 80's. He also did this double and triple teamed and he was maybe 6'ft tall.
