Wheelersburg was down by 18 points late in the 3rd quarter and was being dominated by Northwest until they went on a 24-0 run to tke a 6 point lead and they held on to win by 9 I believe. Great comeback victory by the Pirates.

Congrats to the Pirates. Tough way to lose for the Mohawks. Good luck to both teams on the remainder of your season...

Great run at the end of the game for Burg. Lang had 15 in the 4th and finished with 19. I belive Stegman had 22 and a nice dunk to put a nail in the coffin late in the 4th. I believe they said on the radio that NW did not score for over 8 straight minutes going from the 3rd into the 4th quarter. Ballard had a couple nice plays during their 24-0 run. I still believe Ballard will be a big part of this team before the season is over. He is still getting used to playing varsity, but is coming along nicely.

Great win Burg!!

One of the biggest collapses I have seen in quite some time....Northwest had it, they played hard but in the 4'th they weren't playing smart....you could see a team that wanted to win by 50 instead of being content with what they had....I really hope they can bounce back from this and have a great year, hopefully this game won't hang over their head and they come out strong this tuesday against north adams

What a comeback by the Burg boys. NW lost their flow, lost their momentum , lost their 18 point lead and eventually the game.

This cant be good for the Northwest mindset. They must forget this game and move on. If they dwell on this loss too much it could come back and bite them the next game.

The largest lead of the game was 17 points (45-28) and it was a 7 point lead after the 24-0 run: 52-45.

With Northwest up by 17 points, both teams changed what they were doing. Wheelersburg's plan worked, Northwest's did not. Nothing was working for them. Northwest even missed four free throws in that 24 point run.

Bottom line is that Wheelersburg pulled out a 59-50 win.

WOW, did Northwest not try to slow down the tempo and run out some clock?

It looked like from the stands they wanted to beat burg by 40 instead of working with 17...but I wasn't in the huddle so I don't know but that's just what it looked like

I was going by what the radio announcers said and they said an 18 point lead.

Much of the time, Northwest did try to slow it down but that led to more passes and a couple of turnovers in a game with about as few turnovers as you would usually see. Wheelersburg had nine turnovers and Northwest had ten. Six of Northwest's came in that 24-0 run (2 in the last minute of the third quarter and four in the fourth quarter.)

BG77--I figured you got it from the radio guys. :-) It is understandable as their main purpose is play by play and not getting accurate stats. Not everyone can talk and write at the same time. Supposely women are better at multitasking. LOL.

I think we know who he is talking about.

Portsmouth could be a good team, just have a lot of work to do,coach Collins will get it out of them before seasons end.

Who knows, this may be the turnaround point for Portsmouth where they gel into an identity. Hopefully the Northwest game will do that for the Pirates. Wheelersburg will have to play a good game. But they do have explosive potential to come back as they showed against Chesapeake (though they fell short at the end) and Northwest.

Wow what a game, cant believe NW had that let down in the second half.. Burg is tough and will play till the last second runs off the clock and you better be ready to play all 4 qtrs when you play them.
