If Bloomfield has his cast off watch the dragons come away with a hard fought victory. Fairland's guards will be to much for the pirates. The keys to the game will be tempo and foul trouble. Evan Salyers will have to stay out of foul trouble and the dragons better do a better job of rebounding. Fairland has 2 tough games back to back with Wheelersburg invading the dragon lair and then going to the Conley Center facing "I" town. GO GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to making the trip up river tomorrow night for some hoops action. Burg will have to control the tempo of the game, hit open shots and stay out of foul trouble to come out with a win.

Wheelersburg 74, Fairland 63

The Pirates traveled to Fairland on Tuesday and brought home their third victory of the year. Wheelersburg outlasted the Dragons with a 30-point fourth quarter for an 11-point victory.

"We lost two in a row coming into this game," Wheelersburg coach Tom Barrick said. "So to comeback with a win before Christmas break ends is good for us."

Wheelersburg's Andy Stegman scored 33 points while Andrew Bendolph tallied 22 in the win.

The Pirates host the Senators of Portsmouth West on Tuesday to start the new year.

Fairland 11 20 9 23 — 63

Wheelersburg 12 19 13 30 — 74

Fairland— Baise 1 0 3, Bloomfield 5 0 11, Fisher 7 2 18, Holbrook 4 3 12, Salyers 8 1 17, Campbell 1 0 2. Totals 26 6 63.

Wheelersburg — Bendolph 9 3 22, Webb 2 0 5, Lang 4 1 10, Ward 2 0 4, Stegman 13 7 33. Totals 30 11 74.

3-pointers — Fairland 5 (Baise, Bloomfield, Fisher 2, Holbrook); Wheelersburg 3 (Bendolph, Webb, Lang)

Record — Wheelersburg 3-3 (1-1)

Just got this from Portsmouth Times

The double AA duo of Andrew and Andy had big point games last night for the Pirates. Lang, Ballard and Ward added some key baskets at times. Tyler was in foul trouble in the first half and had to sit a good portion of the 2nd quarter. Miller did a decent job on defense. Consistency on offense and the trademark Barrick defense are still areas that need to improve.

The atmosphere at last nights game was more like a scrimmage than a regular season game. Fairland had a decent crowd but not many Burg supporters made the drive up river. I know many were in Athens watching former Pirate Drew Spradlin and his Elon team face off against the Bobcats.
