WKKJ report on the game

Look like poor free throw shooting hurt the LE Braves. Clark Kellog gets a double winner tonight with Nick getting to another Regional Final and older son Alex (former DeSales star) on the Ohio U. Bobcats team that knocks off Georgetown.

Zanesville wins in the other semi-final against Carrolton. Zanesville vs DeSales final on Saturday. Zanesville may end up riding a tourney run into the State next weekend.

IMO, there was no dominant D2 team in the District or Regional this year. I saw DeSales earlier this year and knew that they had to shot well to win. They sure light it up at 55% for the game including 8-12 from 3-ball land.

I could rant about what could have been tonight on officiating and shooting and all of that what not, but Logan Elm just got beat by the better team tonight. LE played their hearts out tonight and just came up short. These are the thoughest losses to swallow as a fan and unimaginable for a player or coach.

However, I can't say enough how proud of them I am. This class has to be one of the winningest classes in recent history:

79-18 record
4 Pickaway County Championships
4 Sectional Championships
3 District Title Appearences (2 championships)
3 Regional appearences (2-1)
1 Regional Title
1 Final Four Appearence
(some of these numbers may be off; I'm going from the top of my head)

I'm proud of everything this class has been able to accomplish as part of the Logan Elm program. Good luck to the LE seniors Adam Blake, Corey Whaley, Tyler Pritchard, Logan Hauserman, and Zach Fulton in your certainly bright futures.

DeSales was sharp from the 3 point line something like 8 or 12 or 14 and Logan Elm struggled at the free throw line, making 4 of 13.
Basically the difference in the game. Tough to swallow for the team obviously but they've had a heck of a run over the last several seasons and have been fun to watch.

Add in two MSL titles for the Braves.

On the regional title game, if DeSales played the way they did against LE, I look for them to win by 15 or so.

DeSales was much more athletically gifted, Elm was much better coached, IMO. You can't say enough about the heart that the blake kid has, I really enjoyed watching him play. I thought Hauserman played a very nice game and Pritchard did as well. Whaley couldn't get much space all night. It is a shame that a private school like that with no following could possibly represent our region in Columbus next week. Though Zanesville could certainly beat them if they are making shots. The elm following was great. Great season for the Braves.

Was at both games last night.......DeSales' shooting from behind the arc was very good and made a big difference in the game.........despite losing, Logan Elm is the best D2 program in the SE District.......they have been the most consistent winning school over the last 6-7 years with a Final 4 and 3 regional appearances. They lost to 2008 state champion Chillicothe 49-48 in the district final that year, and lost to Zanesville in 2OT in the regional semifinal a couple of years before that..........they are NEVER an easy out.

I agree with bman.......Zanesville will have to play a lot better to beat DeSales.......I thought after watching Carrollton and Zanesville play that the winner of DeSales vs. Logan Elm would win the regional.

As a ZHS homer fan, I can 1st say, I am proud of this ZHS team. That being said, I am not sure how this team is at the Regional Final game. The kids this year have bought into the program and Aronhalt has done a great job this year. BUT!!! I agree with TrojanDave, It looked like night and day between the teams in the 1st game and the teams in the second. I thought the winner of the second game would "probably' win the State spot. Hey, stranger things have happened and that's why they play the game. All ya got to do is remember last nights Ou win over the Mighty Georgetown Hoyes! Go Devils!!!
BTW, Hats off to Logan Elm...Very classey program with a great coach. Those kids played their butts off!!! Was rooting hard For LE.
