Basically this was the same team both years, with the only senior on the '06 team being Nick Carrington.

South Webster: pretty easy choice...2005-06 D4 State Champ team. 2 D1 players in Nick Aldridge and Brigham Waginger. Jordan Lower, Josh Campbell and Evan Decamp rounded out the starting five. 26-2, and won by 18pts in State Final. Talked to a guy from northern Ohio after the championship game who said it was one of the best small-school teams he'd ever seen and he'd been going to the State tourney for over 30 years.

I know most Webster people would list the 2004-05 team (State semis) and the 2005-06 (Regional Finals) teams as the second best. They were great teams as well, but I would put the 1990-91 team right there with them as the second best team from South Webster. They had four players who went on to play college basketball (Jeff Bradley-Cedarville, Bryan Dyer-Shawnee State, Jeremy Kaltenbach-Marietta and Pat Estepp-Cedarville). Had great guard play to go along with the big men. They got beat by one-point on a buzzer-beater at the Convo in the D3 District semis by Unioto. As mentioned above by danicalifornia, Unioto went on to lose in the State Finals that year. Had Webster been D4 then, that team could have won State, and may have gotten there in D3 had they beaten Unioto.*

Whiteoak - 2002 Final Four team. Lost in the Semi-Final to Russia

2003 Regional Final team lost to The Wellington School....This team had only 2 players with any returning varsity experience from the previous 2002 team that made the Final Four.

1999 team was state ranked and VERY talented, maybe more so all around than the 2002 team but lost in the Sectional.

1974 Peebles team(Joe Ryan,George Mccoy,Phil Shoemaker,Buddy Sowards,Terry (star)Myers,Doug Mcelwee,Don Kaufman,Larry Robinson,Duck Robinson,Gary Bennington.Made it to the regional finals against coach Huggins and the Indian valley South team.Heartbreaker-up 19-3 first quarter.Lost byI think 41-43. at Stubenville. The years before with Chuck Johnson,Greg Seaman ,Cliff Kremins,Dave Arey,Chris Reed etc.. were awfully good too.Art Myers started his veeerry sucessful career with the 1974 team.He was one of the winningest coaches in Ohio during his 10 or 12 years at Peebles' helm.

the '95, '96 & '97 Zanesville teams were probably the best in SEO, imo.

The teams that I have seen in my lifetime. The 1978, 79 and 80 teams are my all time favorite teams!! Very blessed to be around those guys.

1978 AA State Champs Not a great record 19-7 but had two major injuries that didn't help. Jeff Lisath missed about 8 games and Jim Muarry missed some games at the end of the season. Six of the players on that team played a sport at the division 1 level. State Championship game they defeated Cleveland Latin the 77 State Champion.

1979 Ranked number 1 all season long in AA, and went undefeated during the regular season but lost to Ironton in the District final.

1988 State Champs in AA. Great team and Coach Sub pushed every button correctly. I think they were 27-1.

1980 AA State -Runner up. What a tournament run this team had. Not the most talented team but were big and strong! Lead by Kirk McMahon, Marcus Bendolph and about 4 or 5 guys over 6'5. Came within 1 point of winning it all.

1983-84 Team led by Kyle Taylor, Darren Miller, Lee Hooks, Alvin Williams and Danny Reid was as strong a team as any to come out of Portsmouth. They would have made a deep tournament run if not for a very strong effort from Todd Staker and Wheelersburg in the district finals. Burg went on to lose to Akron SVSM in the state finals I believe.

Interesting stat on the Jeeps tournament trail in 2006

Offense: 631 points scored.

Defense: 362 points allowed.

Average Score:
South Webster 79
Opposition 45

It was total domination along the tourney with only 2 teams staying relatively close to he Jeeps.
Love to have seen the 1990-91 team. Had no idea they were so good.

Piketon Redstreaks 2008-2009: SVC, Holiday Classic, Sectional, District, Regional Champions, (school's first Final 4 Appearance). 24-3, AP Ranked #8, beat five league Champions. Lost to Cleveland Central Catholic in State Semi-Finals.

Piketon Redstreaks 2010-2011: SVC "Gold Ball", Holiday Classic, AP Ranked #6........(depends on the finish)

1996 North Adams team would top my list followed pretty closely by the 08-09 team led by one of the best players to come out of the SHL in Kraig Unger.

The North Adams 96 team was a great team. The 08-09 NA team was very good, but the 96 team would have demolished them. IMO

That would be a game to see. I don't think it would be as lop sided as you might think although I would certainly give the edge to the 1996 team as well.

The NA 05 team was good also. Finished 21-2 while the league was very good. Eastern was very good, along with Ripley, Whiteoak, Fairfield was pretty good, West Union had talent but that was about it. The only really bad team was peebles who was like 2-19.

Sam Louden < Nathan Copas by whole alot
Kraig Unger > Dusty Campbell by alot
Tyler Jimison < Kenny Wilmoth by alot
Carter Nehus < Troy Storer by a whole lot
Tyler Rothwell < Jeremy Basford

The 96 team had a much stronger bench too.

Logan Elm's deepest tournament run was my senior year (2008-2009) where they went 24-2 and reached the Final Four. Then we lost a heart-wrenching game to Thurgood Marshall in the Final Four.

Best Fairland team has to be teh 1961 final 4 team but after 1970 I would have to say the 90-91 team 21-3 lost in regional semis to Portsmouth by 3 points!Oh and to Philos Finest,Pat Rush on that 1999 Philo team was alot of fun to watch! If I remember right they lost in 2OT's to Kettering Alter in the state finals!

This. It's a shame that we have not made it back to the Regionals since 1970 because we had some decent teams recently.
2000-2001 season was quite possibly the most disappointing of them all. Finished the season 19-3 while losing in the District semi's to Waverly. I still don't know what happened there.

2009-2010 would probably be up there as well, but fell short to Chesapeake in the District Finals.

2008-2009 finished District runner up to a highly ranked North Adams and a guy that simply couldn't miss in the fourth quarter. His name is slipping my mind currently

2002-2003 finished District runner up to conference mate Southeastern and 7 footer Chris Skaggs.

I vaguely remember the teams with Beard's on them as I was quite young at the time, but they were decent as well.

#1 agree. Copas was excellent.
#2 I think you have your < backwards. That or you didn't watch Unger play.
#3 Both were very good. Not that much difference.
#4 Agree. Storer was excellent.
#5 Even IMO maybe slight edge to Rothwell who although not as tall was a lot stronger in the post.

Would somewhat agree that the 96 team had a stronger bench.

Not sure about which may be the best in school history...But thru out the 80's & early 90's Eastern Pike was a constant top team thru southern Ohio...
Early 80's led by Cochenour, with the late 80's & early 90's led by King, Nance, Mcbee & others including our good friend here on preps & point guard Hoggy.....
