It shows you that us little schools down here in little ole Southern Ohio Can Get it done to!! As you all know I always want to see my Purple and White win but whoever makes it the farthest will have me cheering them on. Good luck to all area teams and Congrats!!

Great post! It is nice to see such good games, from great athletes representing us small folk down here in the south. I hope they all do well when they head up north.

I think it's more about the division III thing and how these three teams from Rt. 52 on the river all came out of the Jackson sectional and won their district championship.

I figured that was the case but when the other two were mentioned I felt they had to be thrown in as well.

I am refering to these three teams due to the fact that all three are along RT 52 on the river two of which are in the same county and the other in the neighboring county. Also I am congratulating them b/c for the past three years in the same division and section it has come down to these three teams! And I said our Area like Lawrence and Scioto County!! Sorry to affend anyothers!!

The Southern Most Point of Ohio is South Point which is in Lawrence County (Ironton, Chesapeake) the neighboring county is Scioto County (Portsmouth). So yes some of the teams yor are metioning are in the southern part of the state to other teams but the most southern part has three teams remaining Chesapeake, Ironton, and Portsmouth. Once again South Point the most southern point in Ohio is 1 mile away from Chesapeake, 9 miles from Ironton and 37 Miles from Portsmouth. I understand you want your team to get Recognition but they are not Southern Ohio, they maybe Southeastern, or Southwestern but they don't come from the Very Very bottom of the state like these three teams do and in the SAME Division and SAME section and SAME region for the past three years have had to BATTLE EACHOTHER to move on to Columbus. Just for your info Waverly is nearly 70miles away from the Southern Most Part of the state, EP is over 60 miles away from the southern most part of the state, Chilicothe is 80+ miles away from the southern most part of the state, Machester is 80 miles from the southern most part of the state. Also once again Chesapeake, Ironton and Portsmouth are all on Rt 52 play eachother year in and year out in regular season then have to send eachother packing to get to the dance. Thats why I congratulate these teams from the Tri-state area (Huntington, Ashland, Ironton). Also Congrats to all the other teams!!

Well, first off...MY team lost to Portsmouth a few nights ago, so no recognition here. In your ORIGINAL post, you didnt specify "SouthEASTERN" you simply said "little ole SOUTHERN ohio"....which Eastern and Waverly BOTH are...

I think it's a great topic, and all the teams are OUTSTANDING, but Eastern and Waverly are in the SOUTHERN OHIO CONFERENCE, so I consider them in "little ole southern ohio"

I'm not trying to mess up your topic, but I think recognition should be given to all of the SOUTHERN teams!!

Waverly is 27.76 miles from Portsmouth, and 61 miles from South Point
Eastern Pike is 28.8 miles from Portsmouth and 54.4 miles from South Point.

I never said anything about Manchester or Chilly...but how can you say 2 SOUTHERN OHIO CONFERENCE teams arent in Southern Ohio?

So, GOOD LUCK TO WAVERLY AND EASTERN PIKE!!!

I think it's funny that the original post states, "I don't know how much credit is given to these three teams..." I call BS!!!! These three teams have received praise all year long!!! And, they all certainly have deserved the credit they got all year long. They are all three very talented and I really hope one of them represents us in the State Tourney at the Schott...hopefully even winning it all. However, don't act like you don't know if they've gotten enough praise or not. The three of them were picked to win their respective District Titles from the day the tourney draws we're announced on. And, as far as using the "two in the same county" excuse...Waverly are in the same county AND even neighboring school districts!!! Plus, Portsmouth is also in their neighboring county.

I'd prefer to pay respect where respect is do for ALL of our SE District Champs: Chillicothe, Waverly, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Ironton, Manchester and Eastern Pike!

Great Post Sir, I agree 100% my loyalties go to all Southern Ohio/SE district teams. I'm very fortunate to still have a dog in the fight but IF my Eagles lose tonight I will be cheering Manchester to a D4 State Title, as well as every single other team from our area who is still on the tournament trail.

Oh for pitty sake let it go people...I mean really? Are we arguing over who is southern and who is not? Ironton Chesapeake and Portsmouth are "Southern" the rest are either central, western or eastern. Truth is no one cares about us down here anyway. Columbus would rather annex Scioto and Lawrence counties to Kentucky or West Virginia. So anytime we get recognized for anything we are greatful.
