Alexander Basketball 2012-2013

Post by teddyb15 »

Thoughts!?! Will this be a sleeper team and surprise people or be the second chapter of last year?

The boys are working hard this summer. Shootout results have been very positive. They've had some very good outings with Braden Jones playing very well. Everyone is contributing nicely even the freshmen. I don't believe this year will resemble this past winter. Their height is their weakness, but their energy on the floor is impressive. That said, I think they will suprise some folks.

They will have a better record than last yaer due to two reasons. 1) Jimmy Kearns will be controlling practices and they will actually do some drills to get better and 2) They are playing one of the weakest schedules in Ohio.

I see 8 wins being their maximum next season.

Eastern, Miller, Southern, Trimble for sure.

River Valley and Federal Hocking maybes.

Maybe split with Wellston and Meigs.

Don't sleep on Miller OR Southern ... That's right, I said MILLER.

I like the Falcons coach and their returning players (especially if Abram is healthy) ... As for Southern; their JV team was one of the best I watched all season and with 6-foot-7 Chandler Drummer and Adam Pape returning - they will be by no means a push-over.

I think Wellston will be a contender for the title this year. I'm not sure if Alex will split that series.

I look for Southern to struggle and Miller to be around the .500 mark.

.500 for Miller is actually pretty good.

And has Southern ever struggled the last 10 years? They may not be up to 'Tornado standards' - but I see them finishing with at least 12 wins.

I think that they will surprise people this year. I agree with miller, eatern, trimble, and southern. River valley has a great coach but usually not that talented. Wellston is bigger but they have not played big the past seasons, they also will have another new coach. So that could be 2 wins. Meigs will also have a new coach and more talent. but i could see alex beating them twice, but its always hard to win at meigs, it seems like the officials down there are usually not too good (my opinion). They always play good at vc and had them beat last year so maybe a split? Athens will be tough as always also but i could see another split. Nelsonville has had talent and still will but they usaully never live up to the potential that they can be. Oak hill, wheellerburg, and zane trace all have great coaches but i believe we do too but i still see a loss by all 3. Logan is a bigger school but not as talented as past years to that could be a big win. So i can see them being above .500!

Bulldog, when was Miller last at. 500? That would be a great season compared to the last few! I'd like to see Miller shock the Hocking, but as dominant as Belpre has been in the Ohio (in the past) I look for them to begin a run of dominance.

Miller made a district appearance in 2007. 93 Southern had some bad years between late 90's and 2007. Southern dropped from 7th all time in wins in the state of Ohio to not even being in the top ten over that time. Belpre would have to be the early season favorite with most of their team back from last years Hocking championship team. Federal Hocking was one of the teams to beat Belpre last year and bring a lot of their key players back so they should be in the hunt as well. Eastern and Miller should be better with most of their players back. Southern lost 4 starters and will playing a lot of players with very little varsity experience but I look for them to get better as they gain some experience. South Gallia pretty much lost their whole team to graduation so the new coach will really have is work cut out. Wahama lost their best player but if they could get a couple players out that didn't play last year they could be decent. Waterford and Trimble lost some key players as well. With so many teams losing so many players in the Hocking 3 through 9 would be hard to predict. I look for Athens to win the Ohio based on their summer play it sounds like they may be dug in for a few years. Vinton Co will always compete in the Ohio. Alexander should be improved while Nelsonville York lost some very good players. Wellston lost their best player and Meigs did as well. I look for Alexander to be right around the 500 mark looking at their schedule.

Huh, I'm the only one left on the Southern bandwagon I guess ... Looks like I'll have to take over the wheel here.

That's o.k. - I'm a good driver - I'll steer the Tornadoes right back to the Convo!

I am not a bandwagon fan but I have been a Southern fan for as long as I can remember. Before I played, when I played, before my kids played, when they played and now after they played. It wouldn't surprise me if they make it to the Convo but being realist Belpre has to be the favorite to win the league.

Belpre is probably a lock for the Hocking title ... I was just pointing out that Southern may not drop as far as some are predicting ... The league will be really short on big men next season - so if Chandler works hard and developes into a good basketball player - the Tornaodes could be a tough out. IMO

I believe that ALEXANDER will win 13+ they will suprise alot of people. They have a very good coaching staff and i believe coach Gabriel will pass the records for wins. I think he needs 3 or 4 more wins to do so. They should be pretty young so most will count them out from the gecko.

I like the little PG for the Spartans ... He's been working out a ton down at the Athens rec center this summer - he hasn't grown any taller - but he is getting a lot stronger it seems.
