If exact scores are not listed, then they can NOT be reported and/or verified by the Associated Press wire.

FYI.

River Valley hits a 3 at the buzzer to force OT. Vinton County prevails in OT 71-67. Great, but stressful game to watch!!

I could not disagree more that either team was stalling the ball. There were times that both teams slowed the game down, but it is not like either team was not looking to score. It was a very exciting game and both teams defended at a high level. Unfortunately the Spartans were outscored 17-6 after having a 21-15 lead with about 3 minutes left in the third quarter.

Go Alex.

If you don't like the pace then make some shots so you can put a press on to speed up the game. If you can't do it, too bad.

I think Alexander had the right strategy and it almost worked.

Putting a press on is a really good idea, except Athens can't afford to do get any cheap fouls do to lack of bench.

Wasn't there but maybe the Alex coach did what he thought was needed to beat Athens or at least stay in the game. You don't want to get into a shoot out with Athens.

Regarding the Athens and Alexander game - looked to me like both teams defended at a high level, played their butts off and Athens made enough plays at the end to seal the deal. Both teams shooting was below their norms, but defense played a major role.

+1
Defense and cold shooting is indeed what caused the score to be low. Although patient, Alexander didn't stall and I didn't see any "weave". I did see a grandma on the top row that may have been knitting a sweater. ;-) Athens had 38 FG's attempted (1 of 17 3's for a whopping .059%). Alexander shot 23% from the field. If both teams shoot their normal percentage this score would be in the mid 50's. Solid defense from both teams, with not many fouls called.
