Might as well cancel the rest of the basketball season, and since softball/baseball plays in the spring with rain, might as well cancel that as well. (I know I am just venting). I might of graduated 25 years ago, but I remember going to school, game and dance with four inches of snow on the ground. If the area has already gotten hit hard in the day with snow fall and sleet, then reschedule the game. Right now it's just rain. Why cancel, when your perticular area may or may not recieve bad weather.

I don't get it. School letting out at 1:00p.m. and canceling games already with nothing but rain and no real threat in southeast Ohio until later.

Murray, can you pin point the exact time the bad weather will hit? Piketon was at Westfall, varsity wouldnt have been over until 10 or so, that means on the bus til after 11. Then kids hAve to drive home, so some kids out driving around midnight with bad weather. We dont make our decisions based on fans, we base them on the kids!

Ridiculous, I've never heard of high school basketball games being canceled because of rain.

eagles73, that game is at Westfall which is Central Ohio and to the west which is much worse weather already. I said southeast Ohio. What I was meaning to get across is why not wait until later to postpone the games where the weather is a bit iffy? Why do it at noon? I don't get letting school out early here in the southeast when it's raining but I guess letting out at 1:00p.m. is not a big deal. I would never want anyone to risk kids lives and wasn't basing anything on fans.

Whiteoak @ North Adams....postponed until tomorrow

You can't really mess with this particular weather. It's literally a matter of 1 or 2 degrees.

Around Jackson after 6:00 it's going to drop the necessary degrees to be icy and soon thereafter snowy. I know Portsmouth is scared to death to play Jackson....but they are right in not wanting to risk it.

J/K on the game of course.

... rain, sleet and icy conditions here in the Land of the Purple ... we had school - no early release - I'm feeling sure the ride home for the elementary kids who get a later is going to be and ify proposition ... snow is not the probably it's these icy conditions - the last icy situation here a few weeks ago in Hocking County we had 3 fatalities due directly to road conditions ... I love hoops BUT I also want EVERYONE - the kids, fans - to be safe ...

I think it's a good call on the cancellations. Can't risk icey conditions, especially when there are a lot of open dates still to postpone these games to.

The side roads in the village of Piketon are nearly iced over, and traffic on us rt 23 is moving slowly. Had to go out and get some essentials for the evening at home, my wife is happy this is about 1 of 3 weekends I wont be at a basketball game!
