Re: Coal grove basketball
They have the capability to. One thing that could make it difficult is playing in a highly competitive conference that could push their record down some.
Which is only a problem in the Sectional that they are in. The SOC has controlled it and pretty much hand picked who they want to matchup against who. So, unless them or Peebles has a dominating season, they'll likely play in a Sectional final, when they could easily be the best 2 teams in the Sectional. If it sounds dumb, it's because it is.

Re: Coal grove basketball
Coal Grove has all 5 starters back, including PG Aaron Music, for the 2017-2018 season, and is D4. Basically what this means is that the Hornets will play in a division in which they can make a run to the regionals, not only because of what they have coming back, but their schedule will be the toughest of any D4 school in the SE district. Fairland twice, Portsmouth twice, Ironton twice, Gallia Academy twice, South Point twice, and Chesapeake twice comprise a difficult road to navigate in the regular season, but in the tournament it should prove big dividends. The one sticking point with the Hornets is that they will lack size, with most likely their tallest player will be around 6-3. Their record, as danicalifornia suggests, may not give them a great sectional draw, but it may not make any difference. I think the Hornets could still win around 13-14 games even with the OVC being very deep in 2017-2018. With The Wellington School, Harvest Prep, and Africentric being bumped up to D3 with competitive balance, D4 is wide open and a team from the SE district could find themselves in the Final 4, and CG should be one of main contenders for that coveted spot.
