Naylan had a good season, but was injured early and his team sorely missed him in the loss to NY.

Jake Speakman has been rock solid for all 12 league games. He is the primary ball handler on the league champions, not sure if he is their leading scorer, but I bet its close. He is the catalyst, the sparkplug and he breaks down defense better than any player in the league!

Don't be shocked if coaches in the league see it the same way and Speakman wins POY.
Maxfield had 2 games early on in the 1st half where he had back to back 14 points games.
And If people want to play the injury card then he also has elbow bursitis problems that flare up and actually missed a game and also missed a game because of visiting family in Georgia, so that would explain not getting into a real groove until the 2nd half. Everyone wants to make excuses for the other nominees. So there is the whole story on Logan Maxfield. I'm sorry but people have just wanted to hand it to the VC players, they haven't had to earn it like Maxfield, who gets it done at both ends. I think I am preaching to the Choir but at least I made my Case. Yates will get it because he was expected to get it, he is a D-1 football athlete and he scored his 1,000 point and is a Senior. It won't be from what he has done on the court this Year. My Opinion and sorry if you don't like it.
haha I don't like or dislike anyone's opinion.

I'm just telling you what I think will happen.

Edited the last sentence to say sorry if people don't like it. Wasn't directed toward you.

Really?!?! That's all you got. That is weak. VC did not run away with the TVC this year. By the skin of your teeth did you get the title. Again this is PLAYER OF THE YEAR!!! Not TEAM OF THE YEAR. Please just take an honest look and you will see. If Yates would have earned it I would give it to him. He hasn't!! He is a great athlete I will admit. But to give it to him based on that is not Fair to Maxfield and the Season he has had. We all are biased to our teams and athletes but Right is Right. Maxfield deserves POY in The TVC-Ohio. If not then at least a share of it!!!
The Wellston loss has been getting bigger and bigger. Insane.
And what is your point?
Just that.

So you are saying for someone to get POY their TEAM has to win the TVC TITLE??? Not enough to go 9-3 in the League??

Like I said earlier, if the award was for the second half of the season, I think Logan would have a legit shot at winning. The kid has been great. But the award is player of the YEAR. 12 games. 12 league games. Player of the YEAR in the TVC-Ohio.

Breakdown of Maxfield in 2017/2018

vs River Valley: 6 points, 5 reb
vs Meigs: 9 pts, 3 reb
vs Alex: 10 pts, 5 reb
vs NY: he was in Georgia (which is a negative, not a positive)
vs Wellston: 5 pts, 3 reb (The biggest loss of the season for Athens)
vs VC: 5 pts, 3 reb (2nd biggest loss of the season for Athens)

--------------------
vs Meigs: 17 pts, 3 reb
vs Vinton: 10 pts, 4 reb
vs NY: 21 pts, 2 reb
vs Wellston: 18 pts, 2 reb
vs RV: 21 pts, 3 reb
vs Alex: 23 pts, 4 reb

What doesn't show up in those stats is his hustle, steals, charges taken ... he's been great all year in that area.

Too bad player of the year is never measured or judged by those things though.

Charges and steals and just the way he can change a game with his hustle and energy are intangibles I know, but should be considered Also.

Alright I am done. I have said my Peace. No more about Maxfield. The TVC-Ohio regular season has ended and The Defense Rests.

Listening to Athens game on radio, how could you not be pumped for Maxfield.

Also, the announcers said they would be Alex fans next week, well they play N-Y, hope they beat Alex and Bolin has to eat his words.

Is there an age maximum for POY? Just curious.

I'll put my two cents in here. I don't think Naylan has had it for the whole season. He has played well and the team started out 0-3 without him in the line up. I'm a VC fan and honestly I would pick Speakman over Yates as POY if I had to choose only one from VC. I really thought we would be down this year after losing Tristan Bartoe from last years Elite 8 team. Jake came in and has led this team and I feel that he deserves POY. Just my opinion from the cheap seats

I agree. Speakman is much more important to VC at this point.

Three Div 1 college assistant coaches were at the Alexander vs Athens game . It is safe to say they were there to scout Maxfield.

What a pathetic excuse for a human being. Continuing to pick on a kid for his age.... I hope Naylan goes off for 40 against you next week. Maxfield is a great player but he's not had the numbers that the 19 year old and Speakman has had, who is 18 btw. Imo, the co poy should be Speakman and Yates.
