Re: 12/17 Minford @ Waverly
Have not seen Waverly play yet this year, know they have had a number of injuries to try to overcome this early in the season. Did see The Tigers coach and son yesterday down at Rio Grande, if that counts for anything. Lol Have seen Minford one game this year, and can see them giving most of the teams in the SOC-2, trouble on any given night.

Yeah both teams beat my Jeeps by 6 and both trailed with 1 minute left. Minford won’t have an answer for Robertson. He may go for 40 on them.
I’ll say Waverly 64 Minford 53 with DA TIGAS pulling away at the end of the game.

Re: 12/17 Minford v Wavwrly
Haven't seen Waverly but I did see Minford beat Coal Grove 76-58. The Falcons have some excellent shooters, and they pushed the ball up the court all night on the Hornets.
Re: 12/17 Minford v Wavwrly
Waverly likes to push it up the court as well. Waverly will have to play good solid defense so Minford don’t hit 10+ 3’s like they did against SW.
Re: 12/17 Minford v Waverly
I’ll take Minford by 2. If Waverly was at full health I think they’d win but it still doesn’t seem like they are
Re: 12/17 Minford v Wavwrly
No clue. I think Stulley only one out but smurray will add the correct info

Waverly with their first full week of actual practice with the current roster. Starters were Smallwood (SR), Goodman (SR), Brown (JR), Robertson (SO), Will Futhey (SO). Wade Futhey and Diener off the bench for a few minutes.
Waverly lead 18-12 after one
Robertson 8, Smallwood 4, Brown 2, Goodman 2, Will Futhey 2
Waverly lead 30-24 at the Break (Tigers lead 28-18 with 3:14 on a 3 by Robertson to give him 16 and lead 30-21 with 1:26)
Waverly lead 45-30 after Three
Robertson with 21, Smallwood 12, Will Futhey 6, Brown 4, Goodman 2 after three.
Waverly got up 18 a few times, 50-32 with 5:27, 52-34 with 5:05 on a dunk by Smallwood and 54-36 with .53 to play.
Robertson finished with 22 points, Smallwood 14, Brown 9, Will Futhey 7 and Goodman 2.
Smallwood with the near double double as he recorded 9 boards. Will Futhey with 14 boards.
Along with Robertsons 22 points was 6 rebounds, 3 blocks that I can remember and several assists.
The Tigers looked very very good on the road at a very tough place to play against a pretty good Minford team.
Diener saw limited time as he is not back to 100% yet. Stulley won’t be back until mid January.
Tigers need to take this big road win momentum into the downtown arena Friday night and knock off the visiting Oaks of Oak Hill.

Re: 12/17 Minford v Wavwrly
Waverly looked like an entirely different team. Showed up ready to go and played well. I'm thinking several days between games and a few practices with everyone back made a huge difference.
Will Futhey is a beast on the boards. I thought Goodman did a nice job. Seems like all the kids are embracing their role. All the starters played well. Most surprising stat of the night might have been all the blocks by Robertson. I lost count.
I think I saw a first tonight. Minfords JV starters are bigger than the their varsity starters. And that JV team is darn good! Although I would have my starters pull off the press when you're up by 35 in the 3rd quarter. But I guess that's just me
Sure looking forward to getting Stulley back at some point.
Waverly will have to bring the some energy and passion this Friday vs Oak Hill. Go Tigers!

Re: 12/17 Minford v Wavwrly
Waverly just has to keep grinding out games until Stulley gets back to give them another additional guard capable of handling pressure. January 7th matchup against Burg will be a tough one without him.

Re: 12/17 Minford v Wavwrly
Tigers are doing very well considering all they have been through with some not playing this year, injuries to starters and two quitting a week or so into the season (one a starter).
The week between games (Tuesday to Tuesday) couldn’t have come at a better time. Gave these guys time to actually practice together and get some football guys into more of a basketball mode - still a work in progress.
Getting Stulley back will be big as that will add another great ball handler and a little more depth to a slim bench.
Can’t say enough for the job Goodman has done stepping into that starting role.
Shanks is def. missed but Smallwood, Futhey and Brown are coming in strong now.
Smallwood has been consistent all year and has the potential to make a difference.
