Zane Trace vs Piketon ... the Pioneers of Coach Kellough look to stop the bleeding after losing 2 in a row - Unioto/Chillicothe ... the Piketon game is the 1st of 7 home games for ZT ... Piketon is finishing their 5th road game in a row - struggling vs teams with winning records...

Adena vs Unioto ... Unioto survived a gauntlet of 3 games vs Elite 8 opponents - knocking off Zane Trace +2, losing -9 to Jackson and -1 on the road at Fairfield Union in OT ... the Shermans remained solidly at the #7 in the Elite 8 polling after Week #4 ... UHS will be without a key player (Lambert) - will force others to step up to get a road W at Adena ... Adena has yet to get a signature W over a team with a winning record - losing to Chillicothe, Alexander, Logan Elm ...

Alexander vs Chillicothe ... the Spartans are coming off a 2 points loss at Waverly 52-54 in the Holiday Tournament without their big man in the post - Caleb Terry (6-10) ... hopefully Terry is back as they take on the Elite 8 #1 Cavs who's only loss is to Cincinnatti Moeller ... Chillicothe is undefeated vs SEOhio teams ... average point spread 31 ppg ... this one will be a barometer game for Alexander as they look to crash the Elite 8 ...

North Adams vs Eastern Brown ... Coach Beucler has EB playing outstanding ball at both ends of the court (72 ppg offense/45 ppg defensively) @ 7-0 ... the Green Devils started the season at 0-2 losing to Minford/Jackson ... NA was projected in the Elite 8 Pre-Season rankings before opening with 2 losses ... looking to work their way back up the rankings before running into Peebles who avenged an earlier loss to NA ...

Trimble vs Federal Hocking ... the Lancers of Coach Thompson travel to Glouster to take on Howie and the Tomcats ... a battle between Trimble the reigning champs of the TVC Hocking and Fed Hock a team who is on a mission to be talked about in the same sentence as the upper echelon of teams Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ...

Logan Elm vs Logan ... might not be a tougher place to play a Coach Stiverson Braves team than at the Reservation, Logan trying to break a 6 game losing streak will have to do just that ... Logan has only played 1 team in SEO in the 2019 portion of the season - a 9 point loss to Unioto on the road ... the Purple look to put together a full 4 quarters - size advantage in paint, defensive intensity, having played one of the toughest schedules in SEO to date ... LE is difficult to beat IF the 3 ball is falling, IF they can hold their own in the paint ... this one is even going into tonight ...

Wheelersburg vs Minford ... the burg comes in undefeated ... wins at Oak Hill (+2), South Point (+2) , Jackson(+2) ... 3 big time players in Miller/McCorkle/Truitt ... Mindord is one of the best 3 point shooting teams in SEO (11/24 vs Jackson) ... 6 players who can/do light you up from downtown ... this one is AT the Burg - the Falcons have the firepower to pull off the W ...

New Boston vs St. Joseph ... the Tigers play the 1st of a b2b game weekend vs upstart St. Joseph at the Tiger Den before taking to the road to play D4 Peebles Saturday night ... Coach Cox's Tigers have steadily moved up the rankings, wins in the b2b might push them into the Elite 8 for the first time ever ... St Joseph 8-1, looks to make a name as a quality team in their 1st year as a member of the SOC1 ... a win AT Glenwood ? hard telling what THAT would do for the Flyers in the Elite 8 Rankings ...

Fairfield Union vs Vinton County ... 2 of the historically best programs in SEOhio going at it Friday night ... FU has had quality W's in the 2019 portion of the season - Ready/St. Charles/LE/Sheridan/Unioto beating all comers ... FU starts a lineup of 6-4 (Poston), 6-4 (MaGill), 6-5 (Moll), 6-5 (Harrah) & 5-11 (Qualls) with the first 2 off the bench 6-4 (Bean) 6-6 (Bernard) ... size/length everywhere/scorers inside/3 point shooters on the perimeter ... a tough matchup for anyone Vinton County will attack with speed/quickness ... will be an interesting read of the final napkin stats ...

Fort Frye vs Warren ... the back end of a home and home rivalry match-up, FF beat the Warriors at the WarriorDome 49-46 ... WHS was a team looking to BECOME a TEAM - everyone figuring out who was taking on what role(s) ... in the first game FF exposed the Warren weakness of being able to handle pressure on the perimeter ... FF shot the perimeter ball poorly in the first one ... both teams have developed their games - FF comes in undefeated while Warren has won 3 in a row ... Coach Maddox's group will be looking for growth TEAM-wise as they head into 2020 ...

They are a good team in DIV 4 and will end up with a good record due to schedule but they aren't an elite top 10 team in Southeast...I'd put them 22 at best at this point in season. Several teams ranked lower are better athletically and team ball wise. Just my opinion from watching them....
... and THAT'S why we play the games ... the Tigers will be taking on St. Joseph on Friday and on the road at Peebles Saturday night ... teams get to earn their rankings on the court ...
Looking forward to seeing you Saturday at Peebles. We have Jr High games starting at 10:00. Boys and girls. Then Girls mid afternoon then the Boys games. I believe it will be a tournament atmosphere.

You might want to come early to see our whole program. I'm pretty proud of our programs from middle school to varsity. Reserves have lost 1 and the varsity is doing pretty well.

WWBBB sometimes - MOST OF THE TIME - when the shooting % goes down - the opposition's D has a LOT to do with it ... if you (Warren) has a tough time with pressure the cure is to improve your D, make sure that the opposition doesn't score - can't set up their pressure full court ... Coach Maddox & his staff are one of the best around - they've taken that TEAM , built it to maximize their strengths worked to keep opponents from being able to expose their weaknesses (at least minimize the exposure of weaknesses) ... great stuff ! as I said I'm excited to see the Warriors !

Portsmouth picked up its first OVC win with a 77-65 win at Rock Hill. The Trojans improved to 4-6 overall, and 1-3 in conference. 6-2 sophomore Daryionne Bryant led PHS with 25 points. as his game continues to improve. Matthew Fraulini scored 23, and is now only 67 points short of becoming the 9th Portsmouth Trojan to score 1,000 points. Coach Eugene Collins is now only 2 wins from becoming the 2nd winningest coach in PHS history. He has a career record of 167-86, and is set to pass Red Hopkins (1926-1936, 168-58).

Portsmouth played as many as 5 sophomores in the game. Rock Hill is improved, but it is hard for them to move up in the standings in a good basketball conference like the OVC.
