Ironton - 11
Russell - 15

WOW, Russell has 2 monster 8th graders playing, and really good at that.

Wait a minute, Russell won with a couple of 8th graders?
If this true, that’s impressive

Team is long on athleticism but short on basketball talent. Schreck and Terry are studs, rest will play hard and have things they do well but are limited in some way. I will say they are shooting it well right now for a team 3 weeks in.

I could see 2nd to 6th in the league. Can beat everyone but can be beaten by everyone. Need to learn how to rebound very quickly.

Ironton won’t finish top 3 in the OVC. Tough stretch coming up vs Fairland and South point.

Schreck needs to be more consistent. White is the only true rebounder they have. He plays good D and can score. Terry has no problem getting himself a shot with his quickness. Unless Ironton learns to play team defense they wont beat a good teams. Ironton isn't a good shooting team so it makes it tough to get in a half court game and they don't rebound well enough to run with the ball. With the quickness they have they should press press press. Just my opinion

Three weeks of practice or not you shouldn't lose to a team thats starting 2 eighth graders

Those 8th graders are all travel ball players from the same travel team and all of them are transfers into Russell. There not just your regular home grown 8th graders. They are very talented and are together for a reason. Not a shame to lose to them.

You’re right, I thought I heard the announcer refer to another player as being an 8th grader. #3 and 32 are the 8th graders and both start. 32 is a heck of a defender too.

They’re definitely not your average 8th graders, they start over some Upperclassmen, that should tell you something.

Rimmer from Russell has been there since grade school. My son has played against him in little league over there. I’m not sure about the other 8th grader on the team.

Travel ball doesn't make you a player. Id like to know how many practices take place during travel ball season. Are skills and fundamentals being taught or is it just a gathering of descent players and go play and dipping into parents wallet.
