I believe Maysville won the Steubenville shootout over Steubenville in the finals. No details !

I would be interested to hear how that shootout turned out today.

--Marietta went 7-0 (4-0 in four of the 24-minute games and 3-0 in the tournament consisting of three 8-minute games). Tigers were not very big and did not shoot the ball well from the outside but played hard and seemed to have balanced scoring and team chemistry. They were missing one or two players who will get minutes next season.
--Other teams of note included Tri-Valley, better than I thought they might be after losing so many players to graduation and Massillon Perry coming off an incredible OHSAA tournament run in March. Sugarcreek Garaway was missing some baseball guys and did not show well, but they also got hit hard by graduation. Scott (West Virginia) was solid with some height and Warren competed but was clearly impacted with a roster without varsity experience.

The Peake played in the Ashland League this afternoon. Played East Carter in first two 20 minute halves
Won by 22 and he played everyone.
Second match was host Ashland and Peake won 56-55 in a hard fought match up.
They go Huggins Camp this weekend and then back to Ashland Thursday before going to Marshall camp on next Friday and Saturday.

Anyone see the second Marietta Team Camp held yesterday at Marietta College? I'm aware Marietta HS won it going undefeated (same as last weekend) but not many details. The Tigers also played at Ohio State on Thursday against Bishop Hartley, Groveport Madison and Gahanna Lincoln.

Jackson looks very good and deep. They already look like they can make a run this season.
Zane Trace looked great. Had some kids that can shoot it very well. Another great year for them.
Athens thought looked alright. Will compete for 2nd in the TVC.
Wheelersburg is down. Struggled most of the day. Will have a ton of athletes but lacking skills.
Gallipolis suprised me. They play tough and extremely hard. Took down burg easily.
Unioto going to be a tough out for anyone. The Fitch kid is the real deal. They will make a run this year.
Rock Hill will compete in the OVC. Plays hard with a tough guard.
Coal Grove struggled for most of it. May be one of the bottom teams in the OVC.
Vinton County young but plays hard. Will be good in a few years.
South Gallia looked great. Crushed Coal Grove and took Jackson down to the wire.
Valley looked great. Valley will compete to win the SOC this year.
Miami Trace will be good. I don't think they will have the year they had last year but they will still have a chance to win the conference. I think Jackson the front runner to win it.

Yes, I left them off of it because I knew they were missing a few due to baseball. Should get a better feel for them tomorrow.

South Webster will be a top team in division 7. I watched them play 3 games and believed they won all 3. Jackson was missing a few starters and still looked great. Zane Trace plays extremely hard and can shoot 1-5. Athens I'm still not sold on. Wheelersburg looked a lot better week 2 compared to week 1. Unioto is still going to contend. Fitch kid is tough. Circleville looked good. Rock Hill handled coal Grove easily. Will be a mid team in the OVC. Coal Grove def struggles. Worst team in this league. Vinton County plays hard. Even though they lost a lot they will have a chance for 3rd in the conference. South Gallia struggled against valley but had a chance to beat Webster. Valley looked great. Valley will be a team to put on the radar to make a deep run. Miami Trace struggled. Still believe they can win the FAC but Jackson def the front runner.

The Jackson Summer League- Well ran league by Jackson

Unioto
Hands down the best team in the league. Loaded with size, skill, and athleticism. Fitch is one of the best players in the region, and Combs continues to prove why he’s an elite coach. Expect them to make a deep tournament run.

Jackson
Senior-heavy squad with 3-4 year starters across the board. Tough, physical, and experienced. They’ve been a joy to watch this summer. With a rotation of 7-8 strong players, I like their chances to win the FAC this season.

Miami Trace
Looking to repeat an undefeated season. Tough, disciplined, and always compete. They’ll be right there with Jackson battling for the FAC crown.

Zane Trace
Arguably the most skilled team in the league. All five guys can handle the ball, shoot it, and compete at a high level. Dangerous group — they’ll be a fun team to follow this year.

Valley
A top D6 team in the making. With improved defense and elite shooting, I love their upside. Legit contenders in the SOC.

South Webster
Top 3 team in Division 7. Their young talent plays hard and hungry. Norm’s health is improving. The future is bright.

Logan Elm
Physical, gritty, and capable. Two strong scoring guards lead the way. If they can find a consistent third option, they’ll be tough come tournament time.

Wheelersburg
Showed the most growth this summer. I wasn’t high on them early, but they finished strong. They defend, compete, and are trending upward. Excited to see their season unfold.

Athens
Still not sold, but I think they’re capable of finishing 2nd in the TVC. Need to improve depth and consistency.

Gallipolis
Young talent, but depth is a major issue. Any injury or foul trouble could be costly. Middle of the pack team in the OVC.

Vinton County
Very similar to Athens. Young and developing, but could play spoiler and sneak into 2nd place in the TVC by season’s end.

Rock Hill
Gritty and relentless. They’ll be in your face for 32 minutes. I love how they compete. Could surprise some people and finish 3rd or 4th in the OVC.

South Gallia
My surprise team of the summer. Young group that plays hard and competes. Pulled off some big wins. Not title favorites, but they’ll battle in the middle of the SOC.

Coal Grove
Struggled throughout summer league. Still have a long way to go. Depth, defense, and scoring will be areas of concern. Likely a bottom-tier OVC team this season.
