It's always a long, hot but fun day to wrap up the summer hoops schedule! It's also the last year that it will be a hot one, they're putting A/C in the high school gym in July lol. The pool that gets sent to the junior high gym will be spoiled, they will have the A/C in there prior to the shootout!

Re: 15th Annual Caldwell Varsity Boys Shoot-out June 28th
... Coach Thomas at Fairland MIGHT be interested in being on the "waiting list" ... I was contacted by one of the Fairland assistants as to if Warren's Shootout and yours was full ... I told them Warren had turned away 5-6 teams, Coach Maddox said that you had sent out the schedule of games for your shootout ... Fairland would more than likely want in if anyone drops out as they were in "catchup" mode with Coach Thomas being hired just last week ... let me know - I can get in touch with Coach Thomas & Co. or you can contact the FHS AD yourself ... thanks - pfloydcaldwellbasketball wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 11:38 am Southern has joined, the field is full! Re: 15th Annual Caldwell Varsity Boys Shoot-out June 28th
Quick rundown of what each team brings to the table (that I know of!), being so late in June often many teams will be short their rotation guys, I enjoy that, it lets me look at some young guys getting thrown in the mix:
Pool A:
Caldwell-we return four of our top 9 from a 19 win squad and add 6 from a 21-1 JV team. We will be short 5 of our 9 for vacation and legion baseball but will get a good look at a few young kids.
Newcomerstown- New coach, returns a pair of all-district (one all-ohio) players.
West M-fill in for Fed Hock-new coach but returns the core in tact from a 13 win team in the MVL. Soph guard had a few 30 pt games last winter and the junior post Smith is a freakish athlete.
Morgan-year two for coach Marcinko, his kids will play extremely hard, not sure on individual players as to what they return.
Union Local-Coach Delman puts a quality team on the floor every year, this will be no exception to that.
Pool B:
Buckeye Trail-return 6'9 senior Elian Arick and Senior guard Coen Eagon from a 17 win team. I believe they'll be short a few Saturday as well.
Philo-Returns nearly everyone from a team that really improved last year. Guard Rusty Trout and two good bigs (including one of the best freshmen anywhere around).
Ridgewood-Returns excellent senior guard Jackson Cabot, tough IVC program
Warren-they lost 9 seniors but I'd bet my house they will win more than 15 games. Great great program and coach.
Centerburg-D6 central district program, I know nothing about coach Marhefka's team!
Pool C:
Shenandoah-Coach Miley's third year, they return senior forward Braxton Barnett who just won a pair of state track championships.
Cambridge-Coach McCort's second year, returns excellent senior guard Garrett Carpenter.
River View-Return one of the MVL's best bigs, Layton Massie.
Southern-Coach Caldwell's team returns their point guard and added one of the best wing/bigs in SEO to the defending TVC champs. They should be very good.
Malvern-Coach Tucci has over 600 wins, only returns one kid from last winter, drops down to D7 this year, I'm sure they'll make a run in March.
