Logan Elm 69 vs Zane Trace 55 ...29th early dinner special

Post by pfloyd »

... loaded up all the Christmas electronics into the Pfloyd 'ho - the Garmin to find all those hoops venues across Southern/Southeastern Ohio , Sirius Radio for pre/post game hoops tunes when a radio station is out of the question in the hills Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ... heck the SEOPs Garmin finds all those out of the way Pizza places as well ie. Giovani's in McArthur after the VC game last night ... today the Pfloyd 'ho made its way to the early afternoon special : Logan Elm vs Zane Trace ...

... took the Braves of Coach Stiverson a quarter to settle into the early start time as the Pioneers of Coach Alley put up a 6-0 spot on the LE defense to start the game and a 13-6 run before the LE bench had seen enough ... when the dust cleared Zane Trace had hung 18 points up on the board vs the LE D ... ZT 18 to LE 12 after one quarter ... between quarters 1 & 2 Coach Stiverson & staff harped on defense , needing defensive stops ... the LE defense responded by holding ZT to 9 points in the quarter while the Logan Elm offense came to life behind Adam Blake's 7 second qtr. pts. including a 2 pointer as time ran out that tied this one at intermission ... LE 27 - ZT 27 at the half ... the 3rd quarter saw more of Logan Elm's solid defensive play as they held ZT to but 10 pts while the Braves continued to ride big treys from Adam Blake (2) and Chad Holbrook (1) putting up 21 pts in the 3rd to open up an 11 pt. margin entering the 4th period ... LE 48 - ZT 37 after three ... the final quarter had the Braves holding serve anywhere from 10 -18 point leads ... at a TO Coach Stiverson showed me something - even though this one was in the pocket - he emphatically pushed physical and mental toughness ... that times like this would determine whether the Braves win or lose down the road - staying mentally "in the game" ... another 21 point quarter followed - 11/12 from the line, a couple of three pointers by Tim Congrove ... Zane Trace bookended their 18 point first quarter led by Matt Millers 6 pts in the quarter ... Logan Elm 69 - Zane Trace 55 a final ...

Zane Trace Napkin Stats ...

Scoring ... Matt Miller 14/Kirk Maxwell 10/Beau Dailey 8/Keister & Merriman 6 each/Chamberlin 5/Haynes & McCoy 3 a piece ...

3 Pointers ... 4/16 ... Keister/Maxwell/Haynes/McCoy (1)

FTs ... 11/16 ... ZT committed 21 fouls on the game ...

TOs ... 16 ... 12 of those in the 2nd half ...

Logan Elm Napkin Stats ...

Scoring ... Tim Congrove 21/Adam Blake 17/Steve Largent 16/Pete Blake 8/Zach Holbrook 4/Chad Holbrook 3 ...

3 Pointers ... 8/18 ...Tim Congrove 4/ Adam Blake 3/Chad Holbrook 1

FT's ... 23/30 ... 11/12 in the 4th period ...

TOs ... 12

... always good to get a chance to see a Coach Stiverson coached ball club in action ... sat behind the bench today and learned a lot about "why" the LE program is so successful just listening to the coaches "coach" ... a good way to wrap up the last weekend of 2007 and get ready for the 2008 portion of the season that IS ...

pfloyd, nice to hear you made it up to the reservation. I was pulling the doubleheader of Westfall-Teays Valley and Licking Valley-Canal Winchester so I wasn't there. Nice to hear the complete game report. I'll be back on the Logan Elm trail probably after next week.

BTW...TV won 67-52 with a 20-5 fourth period. Cville lost 61-59 at Bexley in OT. That drops Cville down to 5-4 and Westfall is at 3-4. I don't know about the Fighting Falcons.
