Fed Hock posses a difficult match-up for Southern ... The Tornadoes don't seem like a 'perimeter' team - they don't like to sit out and shoot threes all night ... They want to score inside or by slashing to the hoop with Roseberry and Roberts ... On the flip side - that's exacty what Fed Hock wants the opposing teams to do ... Drive inside where they are strongest with Carney and Saylor.

The Lancers struggle with teams that boast quick backcourts and guards who can shoot ... (i.e. South Gallia, who beat Fed Hock inside McInturf Gymnasium Power 105) ... Southern does have the quickness to press and play up-and-down the court - whether or not they do it is another question.

The last meeting was 42-36 in favor of the Tornadoes - because they chose to play a 'half-court game' against a team that plays best in the half-court.

I have to agree with 93 this will be a tough match up for Southern. You know Howie will slow it down and go inside to his bigs. I have heard Southern has some sick players. Bad week to get sick, they seem to be passing it from player to player. Hopefully Southern will bounce back from the Belpre loss and get back to winning.

I don't think Southern "chose" to play a half court game against Fed Hock, I just remember that both teams really struggled offensively that game. I think that both Coach Caldwells know each other so well that their teams are well preprared to stop what the other does well, like FH controlling tempo and Southern making it tough for FH to get good lucks around the basket. Last year when Southern and Eastern played both games were fairly low scoring, with the game at Southern being 40 something to 30 something. I know Southern likes to run, but the problem is they don't have much of a bench, and if they do have some players sick, that definitely makes it tough to run and press all the time. I think both coaches just want to find a way to win and they don't care if its 61 to 60 or 31 to 30. Should be a good one.

Whatever it takes to win - that's great. I don't have any problem with that strategy what-so-ever.

I just watched South Gallia (who only plays about 6 or 7 kids) run Fed Hock up and down the court, pressed all night and the Lancers really struggled with it - and were never really in the game ... My only point was 'IF' Southern wanted to do that - they have the athletes and the speed to do it.

I kinda doubt FH scores 80 points. It would have to go to 5 OT's for that to happen. I do think fed will win 56 55.

Southern won, so not complaining about the officiating because of being a sore loser. But that was the worst officiating I have ever seen. It was horrid at best. Lucky no one got hurt.

Rainman- were you even at the game. Officiating is usually pretty bad. Every year it gets worse. I just mean in general. That being said this one was not that poorly officiated. I mean he referees did not cost the Lancers 25 points. Southern ran the Lancers out of their own gym. Can not blame the refs for this one.

19 turnovers will not get it done in tournament games. If southern was half as good as they could be and think they are they could make a deep tourney run.

Sure it gets it done if you get 26 turnovers from the other team. :-D

This game shows the irony in sports: Eastern beats Southern, Federal Hocking beats Eastern by 24 at Eastern and losses by only 6 at Southern, yet FH gets blown out tonight at DC Mac. Embarrassing effort and performance by the Lancers. Blame goes to the players, and coaches for not being prepared to play this game. Not taking anything away from Southern, but this game was more about FH not being ready to play than anything. Good luck to Southern the rest of the way, and hopefully the Lancers can salvage what's left of their season.
