The Holzer Clinic Invitational will be held at the Convo on December 13, 2008. Tickets for the event will be $7 at the door and presale will be $5. Below is the schedule of games:

(not indicated but probably is boys)

I am not certain whether there is anything at Zane Trace -
They used to have one when Gary Kellough was the coach
there but after he became the coach at Chillicothe
a Showcase started there (listed above)

There is a River City Classic at Marietta College -
schedule is elsewhere on SEOPS (currently on the second page)

It is sponsored by the Alexander Hoops Committee
(same group which has the Classic at the Convo Dec. 13)
although neither Alexander team is participating
(this is explained on the thread)

... anyone have the McDonalds Tip Off Classic at Zane Trace menu of games ? ... Sportfolio it is still on - the first round of games that I go to every year are at ZT ... I believe the games are on Friday Dec. 5th and Saturday Dec. 6th ... now as far as the menu goes ?????????????? need some help with that one - any one ?????

Only one classic at Chilli this year? The past couple years they had one with local teams like the one listed above and the power shootout with BIG NAME guys. Guys like Daequan Cook, Bj Mullens, Kosta Koufos, William Buford, Dante Jackson, and Yancey Gates.

Dick Burdette is planning to be there for a book signing of his new Waterloo Wonders book. He has done a good job with it. He will be in Athens for two events Saturday, but anyone who can;t make it there will have a chance on the 13th.

I know the classic is on Dec. 5th and 6th ..also know that Logan Elm will be in the highlight game Saturday night vs Harvest Prep again this year ... outstanding contest last year with LE losing that one by 2 ... 69-67 I believe was the final ...

question about the invitational at the convo .... do Ohio U students get in free with their id's? and also is this like some of the tourney games where they clear the gym after every game?

The event is sponsored by Alexander High School so tickets
are required (including Ohio U students) since it a fundraiser
for the Spartan athletics but one ticket is good for any or all of the games

Anyone know anything about the classic that used to be held at the convo and then moved to Columbus,I beleive that it was called the McDonalds at AThen's then became the comcast at columbus,It was held in Jan each year.Last time I attended was about 10 years ago at Battell Hall and I think Wellstons coach Darrow had something to do with it.Is it still around in some form?Over the years saw a lot of good basketball programs play and would like to go this year.

It has not been held for several years .... Wellston Coach Jim Darrow (and his brother John helped a lot) coordinated it when it was in Athens and then when it was in Columbus ... there were certainly a lot of players who were good at the time and have gone to other success at various levels .. There were some good teams and players when it was in Athens and more when it moved to Columbus including Oak Hill Academy from Virginia most years ... Sponsorship became one of the big problems even in Columbus which led to it being dropped
