What a crazy league
Oak Hill beats Wheelersburg and Waverly badly but loses to Minford and Valley whom Wheelersburg and Waverly both beat.
Waverly beats Minford and Northwest fairly handily while Wheelersburg squeaks out victories over them and then hands it to the Tigers (at Waverly).

Should be a very interesting 2nd half of the season.

Waverly has to travel to Minford, Oak Hill, Valley and Burg.

In the second half of the season, Wheelersburg travels to Valley, South Webster and Northwest. The rest of their games are at home. Even with only a total of nine home games this year, they still have six to go.

It should be nice for the kids to be back after such a long time on the road. (Last 6 of 7 games.) No wonder playing Northwest at home was a little rough. It was unfamiliar territory. LOL.

I'm just really pleased to see that the Pirates made it through that tough stretch of 6 out of 7 games on the road with a 5-2 record only losing to Portsmouth and Oak Hill while knocking off Ironton, Minford, Northwest, Waverly, and Federal Hocking. I actually figured they wouldn't fair very well in the stretch of games since they are so young and had to play 6 of them on the road. If this team continues to play with the defensive intensity they have the first half of the season I can see them picking up another SOC II title this year, either outright or tied with someone.

With the way this has played out, it's a good thing we don't go by BCS rules. Who KNOWS where everyone would be at this point!

Can someone posts Wheelersburg schedule with results/scores? Greatly appreciate it. Thing I admire most is the way they dominate defensively and hold good teams to 30's and 40's night in night out. Amazing!

IF they want to win, they NEED to keep the other team in the 20's and 40's. They let Portsmouth, Ironton and Oak Hill (and West the first game of the season) score in the 50's--lost two of the four and one of the others they managed to win in overtime.

Dec.12 @ West 6:00 PM W 74-55
Dec.13 Cross Lanes Christian 5:30 PM W 61-28
Dec.16 Valley 6:00 PM W 55-41
Dec.19 South Webster 6:00 PM W 40-26
Dec.27 @ Portsmouth 6:00 PM L 50-58
Dec.30 @ Ironton 6:00 PM W 58-53 OT
Jan. 3 @ Federal Hocking 6:00 PM W 56-43
Jan. 6 @ Minford 6:00 PM W 47-46
Jan. 9 @ Oak Hill 6:00 PM L 35-53
Jan. 13 Northwest 6:00 PM W 45-44 OT
Jan. 16 @ Waverly 6:00 PM W 57-42
Jan. 20 West 6:00 PM W 56-42
Jan. 23 @ Valley 6:00 PM
Jan. 30 @ South Webster 6:00 PM
Jan. 31 Chesapeake 6:00 PM
Feb. 6 Minford 6:00 PM
Feb. 7 Gallipolis (Homecoming)
6:00 PM
Feb. 10 Oak Hill (Parents Night)
6:00 PM
Feb. 13 @ Northwest (Triple Header) 6:00 PM
Feb. 20 Waverly (Senior Night)
6:00 PM

Burg is scoring 52.8 points per game while only giving up 44.2 a game at the 12 game mark. Burg will not put up big offensive numbers but they will also not give up big offensive numbers. This years team is geared more around the defense. I think the next few years they will be strong on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. They are still learning.

Not EXACTLY sure if these are 100% correct, but here's a guess:

Valley 11-3 (7-2)
Oak Hill 11-2 (7-2)
Wheelersburg 10-3 (7-2)
Waverly 9-4 (6-3)
Minford 9-4 (6-3)
Northwest 4-7 (2-7)
South Webster 2-10 (1-8)
Portsmouth West 2-10 (0-9)

I think thats what it looks like after friday nights games...

That's a heck of a race for the top spot with 5 games remaining in SOC II play.
