Thornhill will make his coaching debut vs a very good Cadet team.

Think this might be a packed house?

Jordan has to be one of the all-time favorite sons of Belpre basketball.

Hope he can handle the expectations of the Belpre fans, because a lot of them haven't been in the gym for several years (sort of fair weather fans?)

Best of luck to Jordan.

This is a really tough matchup for Beln tpre.Thornhill did not inherit a bunch of talent. They do have some young talent in the 8th and freshman class.Leasure is a nice big but I think Nestor and the guards will struggle.FF is loaded with 4 great.perimeter players.Waderker and Miller will be hard to replace.FF won by like 30 last season. This ones in Belpre so that could be a factor.FF 70 Belpre 51

Belpre showed a lot of good things at their bonanza last night. The new transfer looks like he is going to be a good player for the Eagles,Leasure and Pittenger have both improved and Nestor,Hoffman and Ullman will contribute a great deal.I look for Belpre to be very competitive and it should be a good game against the Cadets.Good luck and GO EAGLES

Fort Frye returns Shon Smith who was one of the top players in the district last season scoring 17 ppg and scored 38 vs West M in the sectionals. Also FF returns Sr Zach Eddy 13 ppg last season and has been a stud this preseason.

Fort Frye looked great last night vs Waterford.Belpre is going to have to guard the perimeter. With Thornhill and Engle on the staff for Belpre they will know everything FF is doing.Chandler Lang will have a big game

I was impressed with Belpre Friday night in Athens at the preview ... They looked much more desciplined than the past few years, Nestor is a nice little player and Ryan Leasure gives them a solid post presence ... The Golden Eagles will win their fair share of games this season I do believe.

Hopefully the Sixth Man will be back strong this year, that is if Cox and the Adm. will let them do it.

Watching Belpre in their scrimmage with Caldwell and Fairfield Christian this morning, I think you will be surprised. They played hard and disciplined. Did a nice job on D and their pg is solid. I don't think they will beat Fort by any means but I think they will have a lot better year in the TVC then some people expect.

Fort Frye will make early 3 pointers and then that will get them easy layups when they run the offense.

Several factors to consider...

FF doesn't shoot the 3 ball as well on the road vs their own gym but they can still light it up.

FF has a decided edge in the coaching area.

Belpre has a new head coach but he does understand and has great pride in what it means to wear the Belpre jersey.

Belpre has assembled a very good coaching staff and having a former FF asst is a plus.

Belpre has shown a much better tendency, in scrimmages, to play disciplined defense.

Belpre's low post game could be the best it has been in many years.

FF should be considered the favorite to win this game and rightfully so...however, they will find a Belpre team that will not go quietly into the night.

Looks like a great atmosphere to open the season with this Friday night.

Good luck and good health to both teams.

As always...

LETS GO EAGLES!!!

(This is the first of several BIG early season games for Belpre as FF, Warren and Marietta will all make a road trip this year to the Eagles Nest.)

EasternDspy, you mean 36 points in the 4th quarter?

My Prediction: Belpre by 26 in a tight battle.
