Portsmouth is actually going to be very much improved from a season ago. They aren’t going to win the OVC, but they won’t be “bad again”.

Re: SOC2 2019-20
Portsmouth will not be really bad. Athletic with a couple of other shooters to go with fralini. Well coached. They will compete night in and night out. They will win their share of games!
Re: SOC2 2019-20
I heard Adena by 30. Surely that’s not right
Re: SOC2 2019-20
Wow. What happened? Adena that good or Waverly bad?
Re: SOC2 2019-20
No clue. Both teams likely not basketball crisp with several football players in the playoffs. Adena was out a week earlier but the 30 point margin is head scratching.
Re: SOC2 2019-20
Guessing Waverly had some starters out

Re: SOC2 2019-20
No idea who did or didn't play for Waverly. But I do know Will Futhey did not play, as he was on a recruiting visit at OSU yesterday. Not saying that he would make up for a 30 point deficit if that was the case, but he's a key part of the team.

WAVERLY ANSWERS:
Expecting kids to come from the football field Saturday night to the basketball court Monday to get ready for a basketball game in less than two weeks is ludicrous. They should have at least one solid week to rest (heal up) and then two weeks to practice before a game.
Waverly will not be ready to play Saturday - just ain’t gonna happen.
Missing yesterday:
Will Futhey - recruiting trip to The Ohio State University
Tanner Smallwood - twisted/sprained ankle Friday night
Grayson Diener - football injury
Haydn Shanks - torn ACL
Zeke Brown was playing on a sprained ankle from football
Mark Stulley went down with a sprained ankle in the second half.
And then there are 3 not playing from last years team.
Waverly has potential to be good but it will take them a while to get there....

Re: SOC2 2019-20
Makes sense. I figured it was something like that. Takes these kids a while after football. That’s if they’re healthy. So hard to tell a lot this early in the season. Was just surprised by the point difference. I know Adena’s almost entire starting five play football and they made it to week 11. Fortunately it’s a foundation game and means absolutely nothing, especially if half the team is missing.smurray wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 7:30 pm WAVERLY ANSWERS:

Nope, Adena doesn’t even have football. Only Waverly plays football.mlittle wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 8:10 pmMakes sense. I figured it was something like that. Takes these kids a while after football. Re: SOC2 2019-20
That’s alot. Makes sense why Adena dominated. My south webster buddy said Waverly is self anointed state champs when they play a summer league game with all their players there and opponents are missing 4 of top 7 players. Winning big then fans getting after scoreboard kid. But we all know Waverly will be good and this truly hardly means a thing. I expect Waverly to go about 16-6 and about 30 points from my Cavs.smurray wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 7:30 pm WAVERLY ANSWERS:

Re: SOC2 2019-20
Adena football players had an extra week didn’t they? Were any Adena kids out or all starters playing? That extra week does make a difference and half of Waverly’s team wasn’t even available.HamPorter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 8:19 pmNope, Adena doesn’t even have football. I’m not saying Waverly wins this foundation game with all their players available. I’m saying they can be good but it’s going to take a while.
No knock at all on Adena and wasn’t even talking about them - they will probably win the SVC.....

Re: SOC2 2019-20
Adena won’t win the SEC or the SVC
Waverly will be decent, but the hype with the Tigers on the court rarely lives up to the final results.
They lost some really good pieces from last year, plus the injuries from football will cause them to start slowly.

Re: SOC2 2019-20
Don't think anyone was trying to say Adena isn't recovering from football as well. But they did have an extra week as Waverly went to week 12. So they finished up last Saturday and Robertson didn't make the football players report until Wednesday to let them have a few days off. So had practice Wednesday and Thursday then preview Friday and foundation game Saturday. Just not much time to be ready for anything. They'll have a full week to get ready and hopefully heal up for Saturday.HamPorter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 8:19 pmNope, Adena doesn’t even have football. Re: SOC2 2019-20
smurray....what’s your guess on the starting 5....once all are healed and ready? Robertson played a deep bench last season. Will they play as fast you think with a little less depth?
Robertson obviously...will Futhey start? Stulley a rotation player? Wade Futhey get any rotational varsity minutes?

Re: SOC2 2019-20
Robertson, Futhey, Smallwood, Stulley are probably locks to start. Who the 5th will be is the true question.
