Who led the falcons in scoring? Did Montgomery guard Robertson?

Like we said Waverly is good but very beatable. They have 1 inside player and their whole offense is about 1 guy. Scoring a bunch of points off pressure defense doesn’t mean you can do that against good teams.

Trenton Zimmerman finished with 23 points, 9 rebounds. Myles Montgomery also finished with 23 points. Both players played an amazing game to get the win over Minford! If Minford works together and plays like they did tonight, they are a tough team!

I’ll gladly admit I was wayyyyy off on my prediction.

Great win by Minford! Tremendous job by the coaching staff having their kids ready and bouncing back after the Valley loss.

SOC 2 is wide open and it wouldn’t shock me if the league winner ends up with 3-4 losses.

I just thought it would be a time for Waverly to flex their muscles and explode.

Hats off to Minford! What a win! Keep it going. The SOC has some real fine teams. Most exciting league games by a decent bit.

Waverly will smash someone that is very good at some point….I picked the wrong point. Kudos to Minford kids and staff.

SOC has the most parity of any league possibly?

Final
Minford 64
Waverly 58

Tigers came back from 14 down to cut it to 4 a couple times but couldn’t get any closer.

Montgomery and Robertson with 23 a piece and then the difference maker for the Falcons was Zimmerman with 23 as well.

I definitely think so especially with Eastern surprising everyone. Oak Hill is still capable of knocking off some teams above them. And Northwest will automatically be better when Lintz returns.

Very solid league and all teams are going to be very tested for tournaments.

Waverly at times is too one dimensional and rely on Robertson a bit much imo. Listened to Coach Robertson after the game and he said it perfectly. We aren’t good enough to just show up and win. It takes focus and attention to detail. I think Waverly will bounce back…

Napkin stats:
Freshman Myles Montgomery 23 points and senior Trenton Zimmerman added 23 points for Minford.
Waverly seniors Trey Robertson with 23, Wade Futhey next highest scorer with 11.

I thought that was Will Futhey with 11.
Waverly with too many turnovers and shooting % was awful.

Great win by the Falcons! They honestly made us uncomfortable and took us out of our game from the jump. They were able to do a great job of screening to get Stulley off the ball on defense. Montgomery is the real deal! It will be fun watching him the next several years. Minford did a great job of getting bodies on Trey, making him uncomfortable with some good, physical D. We forced the ball and took some bad shots, which I credit to the Falcons. I think we’ll get better when the football guys start getting some feel.
